:TU: i bought a rear axle assembly from Carmen a while back. It is slightly wider than my 65 SpecialWagon assembly, so I could not use it in that because I already had very close clearance w/tires @ the wheel wells. Will the wider (like a '70) work in my '67? The 67 has a open rear end thats pretty loose, needs tight posi! Thanks, Ted

68-72 versions are 1" wider than 65-7 versions. Sounds like your best bet is to get an 8.5 from a 71-2 and get your rear wheels offset so you can run the biggest tire possible. I am suggesting the 8.5" because GM used the same center section from 71-88 and parts are CHEAP and posi units are plentify.
Also the wagon rears use the RW509 bearings which are expensive. Up to you what you want to spend.

I think if i`m not mistaken the 64-66 rears are the same width and they get 1" wider from 67-up.

    Thanks

Thanks! It will go in the '67 and be a bit wider than the stock one then. No wide tire issues with the '67- yet :pp
