Any Chevy 229 V6 guys around?

I was talking to a friend who is putting a 229 Chevy V6 into a TR8. Should be a fun ride, he had one just like it in the '80s that went back to nature and he's building another

He's having trouble locating a cam however. He had a Chevy Performance cam that is now worn out, and he can't find another. I looked, and it's odd- you can get the mild performnace cam, the marine cam, which is close to the mild performacne cam, or stupid high rpm race only cams. Roller cams for this engine are 300 bucks, and 600 dollars for the roller lifters!

He's looking for something around .51 lift and 2000-6000 rpm range, probably solid lifter. He could have a custom one ground of course, but he doesn't quite recall the specs on the cam.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Just some quick searching got me this, not sure if you had seen it before:

    I'll keep looking.

edit: comp cams also seems to have some, none with the amount of lift he's looking for, though. Herei s the biggest one they've got.

It's not really the 315 Buick to my knowledge, it was developed from it though. Just like in the '60s, Jack Brabham used a Repco V8 that was a development of the Buick 315 in his F1 cars. It's not quite the same engine as the Buick engine, to say the least

It's all irrelevant, because this guy's an ex Huey Cobra crew chief, built a really hot V6 back in the day, still has the engine, and wants to re-do the engine. He could use his Ford 390 if he was really crazy, his 4.3 liter Chevy, or his old reliable 229. His little V6 will swallow a stock v8 powered TR8, have no doubt. I want him to turbocharge it :TU:

I think Eric hit the nail on the head on this one. Thanks, Eric.

When my friend saw the specs on the Schneider solid lifter cam, he said, 'hey, that's my old cam' :TU:
