    Will,

There are a lot of wrecking yards in the Nothern CA area but they rarely have any Buick stuff these days. Every so often you can find a Skylark/Riveria/LeSabre but they are far and few between.

Only one, GM Auto Salvage in San Jose, specializes in Buicks.

I do the rounds about once a month so if you are looking for anything special let me know.

    Brian,
Thanks for the link...I've actually purchased a lot of stuff there... Thought that was what you had meant but you wrote GM Auto Salvage and not GM Sport Salvage. Nice yard with some Oldsmobile stuff too but mostly Corvette and Camero's as I recall.
A bit high on prices but they do have a lot all organized quite well.

Rear quarter for my 67 Skylark?

I have a rotted out 67 Skylark Convertible, and I really need some body parts. I need new right Rear Quarter, new panel on top of firewall and front of dash, new lower parts for the front fenders, and I guess the rest is in such shape that I might be able to rescue it.

Anybody know if the Timing Chain Cover from a '79 231cid engine will fit the 350cid engine. Otherwise I'm in deep ****. I need the engine in a hurry, and I only miss the timing chain cover with the oil pump (it looks like the floor of a steel mill or machine shop), and I have one from a 231 cid.

    Jason,

I screwed the name up (what else is new). :Do No:

You correct they are over-priced. Unfortunately it seems to be the only place around these days. I still find parts in the regular pick-and-pull junkyards but they are getting harder and harder to find.

On the good side, I've owned Buick's for so many years I accumulated more parts than I'll ever need.

I live in the San Jose Area, I will have to check out this yard. I just got back into old Buicks. I had my first 69 Riv in 1975. I built a monster out of it when nobody did that sort of thing with Buicks (except GS's). I just bought a 68 Wildcat Conv. I always wanted one. Now that I have ripped out the interior to replace it, I am now wondering "What was I thinking". :Dou:

I just got back from a business trip to Phoenix. Two very nice points of interest. First was TA performance (in Scottsdale). I just dropped in, and they gave me a little tour of the shop and spent some time talking to me. Second was Speedway Automotive (way out in South Phoenix). They have a lot of old Buicks. If you are looking for Electra Parts, go no further. But take you credit cards, cash, and filled in loan application. They are a little steep on price. Point of interest: There are a lot of "huge" junk yards on Broadway in South Phoenix. I am tempted to go back for a weeks vacation. Over my wifes dead body :spank:

    Badcat,

I'm glad you're back into Buick's. There aren't a lot of Buick people in the San Jose area (or all of northern CA for that matter).

I make the wrecking yards rounds on a regular basis (when I get bored) so if you are ever looking for anything in particular let me know and I will keep a lookout for it.

Not wanting to step on anyones thread but since it seems we all have a common interest here with regards to finding parts for our old Buicks... If someone could let me know if they find any 61-64 Oldsmobile's in a yard in Northern CA...well I need some parts for a project... Seems with every passing year there are fewer and fewer of these older Buicks and Oldsmobiles coming in to the yards:(

    Thanks,
    Jason :)

I stopped by the salvage yard in San Jose. It is at 1964 Oakland Road. They are not a large shop, but the do have some early 60's Buicks, Pontiacs, and Olds. There wasn't anything I could use in the lot, but I left them a laundry list of some stuff I am looking for. The usual, tail light glass, chrome pieces.....

It looks like I will be going to Phoenix the week between Xmas and New Years. I told my wife that I need a morning to check out the salvage yards.:)
