I'll be in the Phoenix area this month, Apr. 14-17. Would like to attend a car show with my 8yr old Godson, that we'll be visiting that weekend. Any GS owners there we good stop bye and visit? Also going to try to make it up I-17 to Desert Valley Auto Salvage Yard, north of the city, again this trip. Thnx, Joe X.
Hey Joe, there's a couple guys on the board from the Phoenix area. Are you flying back the 17th or will you be in town all that day? Reason I ask is I'm currently working nights and have Sun/Mon nights off. So if you'll be around that Sunday, let me know. Craig
Hey Joe, I would love to meet up with you for a car show, did you have one in mind? I think they still do the pavillions every weekend. Maybe a few of the other guys are free and we can get something planned. I'm open to doing a BBQ at my place, we don't have a pool in the new place but it's not warm enough for that yet anyway. I may have some parts off of my GS for the next couple of weeks as I'm doing a new exhaust and rechroming the back bumper etc.. but then again I may be done by then. :beer 480-580-6027
I'm up for a BBQ or heading out to a show. Too bad your trip wasn't this weekend. We've got an all muscle car drag day at a local strip. Should be a great time.
Thnx for the replies Graig, Rick, and Aubrey. My flight arrives Thurs. night about 8:30pm. Getting a rental car from Alamo/National, and staying at Comfort Suites in Tolleson, right off I-10. My Godson John Paul lives in Avondale. My brother Dave (John's father), will be arriving Fri. morning, and I'm his airport pickup. I'm free Thursday night, and almost all day/evening/night, Fri. and Sat.. We both return home Sunday morning, on different airlines. BBQ, car show, race track, hangin out with Buick guys, that all sounds good :beer . Joe X.
Sounds good Joe, I work from home so nothing so trivial as work should get in the way  I haven't heard of any big shows going on but if anybody knows of one maybe they can jump in? As for the BBQ, it's on like donkey kong!! I'm up for it whenever it fits everyone's schedule. Now keep in mind I'm a good drive from where you'll be staying but nothing too crazy 35 to 45 min. If you know where Firebird speedway is, I'm about 10 min south east. The pavillions show is every saturday around noon I think, I've been out there twice and it been saturday noon both times. If my car isn't down for modifications we can drive a couple of blocks over and do burnouts by this house I saw that had a GN in the garage,...haven't met the guy yet
Hey Rick, that all sounds real good :TU: . I see Chandler is SouthEast of the city/airport. Shouldn;t be a bad drive for us at all, especially if your talkin burnouts :3gears: !!!! Can you PM me with your address, phone #, and directions to you? You sure have a rare car there, do you have the original 3 spd tranny? Friend Scott Palmer over here, has on of the 510 GS455 4 spds. Thnx again, talk to ya'll soon, Joe X.
You better call Desert Valley. They moved. I think they are in Casa Grande, about 30-45 minutes south of Rick. Aubrey is working at M&M and is learning to hate Fords. Pavilions still happens every Saturday. Annual BOP event is 10-4pm on April 10th. The kids have soccer on Saturdays until 1:00, but I am free after that. John
I thought it was Aburey you said was working with you. I know exactly how he feels about that ford  It's been a giant pain in my arse since he bought it. I told my boy he was on his own after this, that I wouldn't put another dollar into it after you fixed it. :TU: Joe, I'll PM you the info..I'll get with John next week when I pick my Bronco up from him and give him the directions to the new place. All are welcome by the way!! No I don't have the original tranny, I was young and stupid and had no place to store a broken 3 spd if I had it all to do over..............
Hey, any of you Phoenix-area guys get your Buick from Childress Buick? That's where mine was ordered and bought in '72. If anybody has any old dealership memorabilia, I'd sure be interested in it! I've called them and they weren't too helpful; not that they would keep any old stuff, anyway (things like keyrings, stickers, etc....) :beer John 1972gs455@cox.net
Hey Guys, I called Desert Valley Auto today. They're still on Happy Valley Rd., of I-17, and are open Fri. 8am-830pm, and Sat. from 8am-2pm. We're planning on having a look around the place again this trip. When we were there last Oct., I got a '72 grille, and some hard to find a/c parts. Joe X.
Joe, Plz. keep us posted on Desert Valley. I've always fantasized about visiting there, although its distance from me makes that happenning very unlikely. See ya', :beer John
Joe, If you don't mind a tag along I might be up for a trip out there, let me know when you are going. We can probably fit more in the back of my pick-up than your rental :TU:
You AZ guys are making me sick. We,this past weekend beat the most snow record in history for the Cleve,OH area. I was there two weeks ago and I missed it as soon as I felt the cold getting off the plane. SOON....very soon....we are moving out there :beer Oh yeah Joe,dont waist your time looking at the 70 Skylark thats in the local Photo Trader[Phoenix],its a complete POS[a huge hole in the roof]
Joe, Map quest 2001 w north lane, PHX That's the address for my shop. Only about six miles south of desert valley. Stop by before noon and Aubrey should be there with his GS. Might even have mine there. John
Hey Guys, not sure which day would be best for Desert Valley? We can come bye Rick, and go up that way with you, and stop at John's on the way there or back. Will a carry on fender, fit in an airplane overhead compartment o No: . To bad we only have two full days there. I'll check with brother Dave, and see which day would be best. Thanks Keith for the tip on the permanent sun coupe car ou: . We need black '71 interior parts, for son Joshua's project car. Thnx, Joe X.
We can smile now Keith but in a month or two we won't be able to go outside without a personal mist system ou: Sounds good Joe. :TU:
