I want to upgrade to a better than stock shock absorber, anybody have any good choices that have worked for mostly street situations? Thanks Steve
I've always had good luck with monroe shocks and struts, and have no problems getting them replaced for free when I wear them out. :beer
Alot of guys on the other A-body boards really like the Edelbrocks. They cost more, about $65. Some report the KYB's are a little on the harsh side.
I was wondering if anybody had luck with adjustable ones that allow you to get weight transfer for the strip and adjust back for street. Steve
From a comfortable ride perspective?.....I don't know if they even make them anymore, but I was lucky and found 4 Monroe Sensa-trac shocks for mine. I used to have a severe rear wheel hop problem, these seem to help. So far they have been great.......no complaints here, and no leaks yet.
That may be true. I have them on my 66 Charger, which is a pretty heavy car, especially up front, and I'm happy with the ride. On a lighter car they may be a bit harsh.
KYB's on my 72. Have used them in past on several Corvettes with no problems. Steve where are you in Jupiter? I'm out in Jupiter Village.
I have lakewood 70/30s on the front and 50/50s on the back of my '65. Has a nice ride with stock type coils and transfers the weight well.
I use the cheap gabriels front and back .... the heavy duty coil overs in front and hi-jacker air adjustable in rear ... without even pumpin up the rear , the shock increased the ride hieght by about 1.25 " in front and almost 2 " in rear. I can raise the rear a grand total of 4 inches by pump. Fully expanded at 200 psi i have a 1500lb xtra load/towing capacity as well.. Not as good as traction bars but better than stock on acceleration grab. more wheel hop tho with cheapo tires
