My tools are still packed so this is not what I had in mind but the idiots at Sears (only repair shop near my office) say that the truck is too big to work on. They say they need to pull the axle to change the rotor. I don't recall the local Texaco doing that to install the CarQuest Severe Duty Brakes. I haven't done front pads in a while and never on a 3/4 ton truck. IIRC, I need to: 1. unbolt the caliper 2. lift the caliper off the rotor 3. slide the new pads in 4. reinstall. Thanks. ________ Girlfriend pictures
Move is going well. Still trying to work out the logistics on the painting. Its hard from 1,000 miles away. Car is at the Texaco around the corner from the house. I had them check it out and then do the front brakes and the valve cover gaskets so I could drive it down. Now I need to figure out how to get it to Lanham, Md or to the storage place in Merrifield 'til I can pick it up. ________ Super Cub
They don't have to pull the axles, I'm not sure what they're thinking. I did brakes on a 98 a few weeks ago, and as best as i can remember the rotors just come right off after you remove the calliper and it's bracket
2500? It might have been a 1500 not the HD 2500 with the 8-lug hubs. Its more than just poping the rotor off but the axle doesn't need to come off. ________ Airsoft Stalker Slam Fire Rifle
