I wonder if there is any interest in correct style stamped upper radiator hoses for 70-71 GS 455? I have NOS hose to copy if any interest. I think someone else has done this but I will be doing a different style letter/numbered hose with yellow writing and has no manufacturer on it so I believe it was made by GM where others were Gates/Goodyear, etc. I believe this style was one of the several types used on the assembly line. The hose I will be using is the currenty available hose that is a different configuration than original but is all that is now available. The correct shape was discontinued years ago unfortunately. I want to make mine cheaper than other if possible. I also plan on doing the 1/4 and 5/16 evap hoses coppied from orignals with blue wrinting. These are used on 71-72 and California delivered 70's.

George, not sure if these hoses will work on the 350. Is it for a 455? Hopefully I can get a commitment for at least 10 hoses on the radiator. I plan on shooting for the $30 range. The evap hoses I am going to make even if it is just for me so I will always have those availble. I plan on getting things going just after the first.

I have some 350 NOS hoses , however they seemed to vary slightly from my originals. I contacted one of our vendors about doing these, however could not get enough intital commitments. No one cares about correct parts on small blocks.

DL that is one of the reasons I stick with big blocks. Just more interest. Also the assembly manual in 71 says upper hose is the same for GS 350 and GS 455 in 71 but not in 70. Go figure. What is part number on your NOS hose for 350?

Yes you can put me on the list for at least one.

I am installing a 455 instead of my original 350 with a 4 speed. I been collecting parts for this car since 1985 and I know that I have an NOS upper radiator hose for a 71 GS350.

Are you telling me that the 71 GS455 and 71 GS350 upper hoses are the same?

    Dave,

I have interest in two sets of the cannister emission hoses, 1 set for a 70' California emission GS (3) and 1 for a 72' Stage 1 (2).
I can send money ahead of time if you want.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Dave does anyone make a lower hose for our cars ?

Mike, yes. The current Gates hose sold is the same shape as original. it is Gates #20919 GM part was #1234738 YD. I have an original just off a 71 and it also has yellow print and small Gates stamp with GM part. I was thinking of doing those as well but I know underdog has made them with Goodyear stamp. Lower 70 has was different. Cna anyone post a picture of the hose if I email to them? Sometimes this site refuses to upload my pictures. Madening.:af: :af: :af: :af:

I remember JW posted he was making the upper hoses for a 70GS455 one time but I have not seen anything recently.

Not trying to be a "know it all" but are you resizing the pics?
I have to do that to get my pics to upload...

Bert, I have not tried that. Strange as it may appear sometimes it works sometimes not. Not sure if JW is making them. I knew Kleiner did before but I think they were steep. The style I am making will probably be different than others but I do not want to step on anyones toes either. Just thought I would give this a try as NOS hose is only new until I use it so may try and copy. No time like the present.

Bert, How do you re-size. Not sure if my picture program has the feature. I could not find it out anyway.

Change the setting in your camera on the size of pic your taking.

They all default 1600x2800 on purpose to use up more memory, so you buy more [since your not buying film now] when a 800x600 pic is plenty big.

Ah I have the lower 1234853. Whats the difference in the upper codes? YT vs XB?

If you load your pics on Photo bucket they can re size them for you.

DL, the correct lower hose for a 71-72 455 is 1234738 YD. Not sure on the lower hose you have. I will have to look up in my parts book. The correct upper hose is the XB code. I do not have the part number handy. The XB code upper was correct for 69 GS400, 70-71 GS455 and 71GS350(not Skylark). It had a special design to dip under the air cleaner left scoop. Check out this post. I have a comaro picture of the NOS hose next to the current gates hose I will stamp. There is also a 1970 magazine picture showing the XB hose on a 70 Stage-1.
