Anyone know about antique aluminum boats?

    gscalifornia Small blocks rule!!

I bought a cabin back in 1989 and it came with an old aluminum boat stuck out in the woods. I found an old registration card that lists it as a 1955 Starcraft Star Lite 12'.

The aluminum hull and windshield, steering, controls, and 95% of the wood are still pretty good. It's oddly cool looking, when you sit at the controls your upper body is actually way above the winshield.

Anyone know if it's worth restoring? I did a couple quick searches but I couldn't find much of anything on the internet.

I guess the answer would depend on your definition of "worth." If you're thinking about making a profit I'd say very unlikely. If you're thinking you might have some fun using it, I'd say that could very well be worth it.

I think it is worth restoring, at least in Denmark, old boats are gaining popularity = higher prices every week.

BTW calling it an antique may be a little much. It is only 50 years old after all :)

Hi Ken, I would be very interested to see some pics of your boat. I will run a 1950 Marco this summer. It is a aluminum racing boat made in Sweden. What kind of engine does it have? Would love to see it... :TU:
