I'm curious if anyone is familiar with this W31. No bids at 8,000 seems a bit odd for a W31. Thanks Harvey http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...d=1,1&item=4579797160&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT
no answer on the phone, and mine has a 12 bolt rear, not a 10 bolt.probably a real one,but a very poor listing with worse pics. he picked a bad time to run it on ebay, the W31 that made w-31 a household word in divorce court is on at the same time..
They are poor pictures but from what you can see are the stripes correct? I see the green one is up to 27,000 with reserve not met! Harvey
There's always confusion with the Olds rear that's supposed to be in that car. It has a 12-bolt cover but a 10-bolt ring gear. From what I see in the picture (not much), the stripes look correct. Why do you ask? Too bad the seller didn't provide more info. There's far too many yahoos out there who think their car is a W-31 just because the emblems say so, or they think that hood makes it a W-31. I wonder what his reserve was.
I looked for the green one and couldn't find it. What's the story on it? Is it famous? I saw the one listed above and another one on ebay just now, but both just have regular rear bumpers on them, and incorrect motors. John C
Here it is. It was a no sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970...4579562200QQcategoryZ6405QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Yes, I know of that car. It wasn't originally a west coast car, but it used to belong to Gene Wray, and his son did the build up of it. Not the original engine, too bad. John C
Make that the 2nd fastest small block Certified Pure Stocker running now. Benoit Holloway's L79 (?) 69 Vette really took it to a new level. However Casey ran the first 12 second run in a small block long before anyone else and it really is a true Muscle car, not a bass boat/shower stall/portable outhouse/ etc. See it's back on ebay with no reserve this time. Was bid higher on the previous auction but didn't reach reserve, so should sell.
but its not really stock , he added the wing , and about those poly bushings in the rear ... :Smarty:
Both my W-31's had the cutout bumpers, and there were 2 more in the Vancouver area and they had them too. I spotted another W-31 in Prince George B.C. in the mid 70's and it had a cutout bumper too. I just naturally thought they were the originals. I'll have a look in my Cutlass parts book. Maybe that will shed some light on it. John C
This is the way my parts book lists it. Bar, Rear Bumper Primary Part # 404676 70 342 w/Cutlass Supreme Perf Package & 70 344 Part # 404675 70 330 - 342/39-57-69-77-87/ Exc Cutlass Supreme Perf Pkg, Exc Rally Pack I haven't done much with Oldsmobiles lately, but I'm pretty sure that bumper was part of the package for a W-31. John C
I am sorry, but cutout bumpers were not a part of the W-31 package. Cut outs were on the 442 and Rallye 350 cars, but not w-31's! :TU:
