    Dave,
3m makes a sprayable seamsealer gun & sealer Not cheap a tool . However I could only find grey caulking . A Very nice product ! There are tips for the gun for different patterns . I have gotten it pretty close . With Garys undercoating on top, it would make it look black , heavy & nasty like GM did ...

If you want I can send the Gun to you

    Nick

Nick, Thanks for the offer. I actually went with the spray bomb stuff from 3M. It looks pretty good. Maybe a little less sloppy. As my engine compartment is all together now I think I need to go with what I have to avoid a real mess. Thanks. I will post pictures of what I came up with.

Here is my finished product. A bit neater than some but mesier than others. I guess I will live with it. At least it not pristine clena like many restorations. I prefer authentic but with style..

If you wanted authentic, you should of smoked some weed just prior to doing it. Then it would of been 100% authentic just like they did it at the factory:pp

Here is what found out on a 69 Sportwagon I parted out many years ago. It was a Flint car and the sealer was globbed on like you would not believe. Fenders were already taken of and I decided to keep the heater box as well. Took all the nuts off and the box could still not be removed from the inside of the car. Had to be something still holding it on. Took a scrapper and removed as much of the goop as possible. Found out the the box cover was not flush against the firewall. Once the cover was removed, there was a nut UNDER the cover still holding the box to the firewall. Apparently the installer used an extra nut the hold the box in. Then put the cover on. When the cover would not fit flush against the firewall, he went nutso with the sealer goop to cover the space and seal the whole mess up. :Dou:
Luckily this car was being parted out. Can just imagine what a mess this would have been on a nice car to replace the heater core. :eek2:

JAson, Some speed as well. After all it was a Buick............Scott that is a funny story.Maybe he put it on to hold it in place so the inner box did not fall back in the car before the engine side box went in. I can tell you about that. Starting in 71 they used push nuts on the studs before the engine side box went on butonly in Flint.
