Just trying to get info on whether front and rear windshields are the same on 70-72 Skylarks between 2 and 4 doors. I found junked 71 4 door that may have good date coded glass. Thanks

yes they are.. I have a new windshield I had installed in my 71 GS and it was the same as a 4 door car..

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

All 3 windshields are different: coupe, sedan and conv.

If you want to verify, measure from bottom to top.....also, the 4dr A-pillar covers are shorter....which also indicates a shorter windshield than a 2dr car.

    I stand corrected...
I looked at the windshield receipt I got, and it states clearly it is a 2 door part. I guess I got mixed up about the rear window and inadvertantly mis spoke.. Sorry for the confusion..
I am positive the rear windows are the same...

I did find this on Oldsmobility.com though..

The 1968-72 hardtops and convertibles used the same windshield assembly with one other note: 1970-72 windshields incorporate an integrated antenna in the windshield. The windshield from the El Camino and 2-door pillared coupe will fall into the same category with the hardtop and convertible.

WARNING: a 4-door A-body windshield, which is also a station wagon part, will not interchange with the hardtop, which is 1" taller.

Convertible windshields will not interchange with the hardtop cars.

That is correct, all models had different body styles, so there is limited interchangablity with windshields. 70-72 will all interchange among similar body styles, OK? 70 - 72 2 door, same, 70-72 vert, same, 70-72 4 door same, wagon may be same as 4 door, don't quote me!

If you mean between Chevy, Pontiac, etc., yes. Chevy, Pontiac, Olds, Buick A body 2 door hardtop all interchange; Chevy, Pontiac, Olds, Buick A body convert all interchange, etc.

thanks Nicholas, I always wondered why a new windshield was so cheap for my Buick and figured they must have used it on other cars. Now I know the truth :TU:

    How about a 65 Skylark 4 door and a 65 2 door HT,will they interchange?If not I am keeping a four door one around for no reason I think.......Thanks

I am pretty sure on a '65 they will interchange between 2 door and 4 door. I will find out for sure in about a week as I have a 2 door windshield to install in my 4 door.

maybe the fronts may be the same on A bodies but an Olds Cutlass rear is vastly different than a Skylark. At least on the "S" body style Cutlass.

In my post, I was referring to front windshields only. The rear window in a 4 door '65 is vastly different than a 2 door hardtop or coupe. Thanks for having me clarify that.

True. I don't think any rear glass interchanges across Divisions (68-72. I think 66-7 rear glass does)
