    Hey Guys,
I want to change my fuel pump. I have a 1966 Skylark with the wildcat 375 engine (340-4). I was wondering if all the fuel pumps that are made are the same? Does anyone know who makes the best fuel pumps and where you can buy one?:Do No:
    Thank you,

If you have a stock motor, start with Napa . A new pump is always best , but if you must go with a rebuild , check warrantys. Good Luck:laugh: :TU:

I think that most parts stores are going to carry new pumps. There is a big difference in quality, though. Some are manufactured in Japan, Brazil, or Canada. I'd try to find an AC pump first. NAPA is a good idea as well.

one good thing about remans is they often have longer warranties than newer parts.

doesn't mean it won't be a pain in the ass if it fails, though.:Dou:

I don't know about NAPA anymore. In my area not all stores are really a NAPA. If you don't see old guys in nice clean tucked in shirts and a NAPA hat on, keep on going.

We have one in Toledo famous for selling class B parts and no other NAPA store will take their parts back or give a return.

They sold my buddy a front wheel drive part that needed a seal and you can not buy the seal. It is installed when it made, you can't get it. But they had a whole store full of "class B" ones missing the seals.

NAPA sells their logo and boxes to anyone with a few buck and you have no idea what you are really getting in that " NAPA" box. Most towns only have 1-2 real NAPA owned stores.

    Autozone is cheap and good.
Murrays cost more but sell better parts.

    I miss Forestcity auto parts.

This is the reason I was asking. People don't talk about fuel pumps that much. I bought my car 7 years ago and have not had much time to mess with the car. I am getting gas mixing with my oil that is why I want to change the fuel pump. I believe I changed the pump 7 years ago. When you look at the pump it looks older than the car. I only drove the car about 500 miles in 7 years and want to start driving the car more now that I have more time. I think the pump I bought 7 years ago was no good to begin with. This is why I want to find out the best pump. Someone had told a while back that the gas today was different than back in 66 and the car heats up more and when the car is turned off the gas left in the carb boils over into the engine. I looked for a spacer plater for a Carter AFB to keep the gas from boiling over no luck on that. If you guys have any feedback on this please let me know.
    Thanks,
