I'm still learning. When the car had it's original paint I could wax it in a little over an hour. But, that paint wasn't going to shine no matter how long I took.

Since I've had it repainted I take much more time but boy does it shine. I generally break up the waxing into sessions over a weekend. With my back the hood and trunk can be trouble because the lean over angle pisses it off. I usually do the hood first, then the rims (15 year old Keystones do not like to shine). The next day I do the trunk lid and the sides. The interior gets a thorough cleaning and the leather gets treated during the Spring unveiling. After that it's just vacuuming and dusting. I really should add another leather treatment to the hibernation schedule.

I have 2 things that make this process much easier. An electric pressure washer. I love them because they are fast and don't scratch up the paint. I drive my car daily during the nice weather so keeping it clean is a higher priority than fully waxed. I save that for special occasions. The second thing that makes it more pleasant is audio books. Waxing a car is not rocket science. The audio books allows my mind to be entertained while my hands and eyes do the work. I download them from the library onto my MP3 player. It's free and the variety is great.

I'm going to try a clay bar, but if it works as well as people say I'm afraid that it will become part of the routine.

It's about 3 hours on each car 2 times a year. The old 46 needs to be ground down at least once every two years, so tack another 3 on to that.

And I'm still one of the old fools who does it by hand, I haven't got the guts to attack my paint with a power ball.

Same here for both my TBSS and the Riv (once it gets repainted). It took 16 hours to get all the water spots off my truck, but the best looking black truck I have ever owned afterwards. I use Adams polishes with a Porter Cable D/A and clay bar, detailing spray and two washes, one before and one after the buffing/waxing, then detail spray after wiping dry.

I consider the full size cars to be the B, C, and D bodies. So as of 1997 there's no such thing as a fullsize GM car.

Gets a wash and polish once a year, spend the whole day on it,never gets driven in the rain and lives in the garage covered in sheets.
    Just needs the occasional dusting.
