Hi Mike - Have you given any thought to repoping the shifter boot retainer ring? - http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7085 Please let me know if you want me to send you the ring.
I am not ready to get it sent yet. This month wiped me out (lack of work) so I havent extra money to start this project. I have about $15K in inventory right now and 2-3 cars to move out of here before I can get started sorry folkso No:
If you guys need a couple made before Mike starts production I can make a few by hand. All I need is someone to send me a nice solid original part as a Template. The repro parts will be in aluminum, not steel like the original, but they will work just fine. Duane
That would be great, I'll take one, I just got my shifter for my car works great, I got an oringial 70-72 Hurst, let me no. thanks Tim Moore 72 4-speed Conv
I just got Marco's Shifter boot retaining ring today. I will start making one this weekend, to see how long they take. If anyone wants one let me know. Duane
I will be starting on these next weekend, my last final is this coming wednesday. I found a sheet of aluminum with the right thickness and will get it late next week. I plan on making about 10 of these, so if anyone wants 1 let me know. I can also have these reproduced locally if Mike doesn't want to do them. PS. Does anyone have the stamped steel piece the factory welded in to form the hump? If this piece was reproduced you could make an automatic into a stick car. It would fit 68-72 cars. Duane
Ring Duane, I welded one in my conv that I got from yearone, and it fits nice, so I'll take one to. Tim Moore 72 4-Speed Conv
Guys, I made one of the Shifter boot retaining rings last weekend and have another one started. I will continue making them after X-mas. I have enough metal to make around 20 parts. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to make each one. The part contours exactly like Marco's original ring and comes with all holes pre-drilled. The Aluminum sheet I use is painted white, if you want to paint it black thats up to you. When installed correctly it should be hidden by the carpet. The price is $45.00 each, or 2 for $85.00. This includes shipping to anywhere in the Continental U.S. I think this is a fair price considering the amount of time involved with making them. If you want one PM or call me with your Full Name, Shipping address, and tel# with the area code. I will send them out as I finish them. If you don't like the part, send it back. If you like it send a check to; Duane Heckman 120 President Ave. Rutledge, Pa. 19070 Tel # (610)-544-6776 or Tel # (610)-544-8252 Everyone, Have a happy Christmas. Duane
I have a few finished now and will be making some more this weekend. I expect to ship them next monday. There will be an invoice in each box. Duane
I am sending out the reproduction shifter boot retaining rings to the guys that gave me their shipping information. This is only 3 parts. If anyone else wants one I need their information now. If I don't hear from anyone else within a few weeks i'll figure these parts are not needed. These pieces take too long to make by hand, so there will not be any extras made, just orders. At that point I will send Marco's original part back to him and that will be that. Duane
Duane, When the truck gets here today with my new present on it:Brow: , I am sure I'll need one. I'll get back with you then. Mark
