Hello. I have a 71 buick electra 455 with stock engine and tranny. I've started noticing that when the car warms up, and I stop at a light, then hit the gas, the car doesn't go anywere.......so, I let off the gas, and rev it slowly, and the car goes, but it feels like when you have a clutch on a manual tranny slipping. Is this a torque converter problem, or possibly something bigger.

Dumb question, but have you checked the tranny fluid? This could happen if you are low.

Not a dumb question. I have had it checked recently, but I have not personally checked it.................but I guess I could trust the professionals at jiffy lube..........................I'll check it tomorrow. Thanks!

OK, so fluid is low. Question is, where does it go??? Last year I had the tranny and the engine completely resealed. Since then, I have not one drop of oil or other fluids in the drive way. Also, looking under the car it looks dry. So.....................................Where does it go????????????

It is possible for the vacuum modulator to fail and transmission fluid gets sucked into the intake and burned during combustion.

Kelly's correct. That very thing happened to my GS400 many years ago.

I thought the fluid went to the same place as all those socks that go in the dryer but never come out.

That would be the Bermuda Triangle, there are aliens hiding there and they've come because there's a terrible shortage of socks on thier planet. :Dou: Sorry, I'd say modulator also.

    Thanks!!

Always wondered what made the car shift when it does. I'll check that, and the radiator fluid tomorrow.

    Thanks again!!!!
