I have an autometer speedometer ( 5in 160 mph ) and after I got it, I realized that the stock cable doesnt fit. I was told that I need a cable that has a 5/8 x 18 thread for the back of the speedo. Any suggestions? I did call autometer and they told me that a cable from a 1965 chevy fullsize car would fit ( not like my local autoparts store carries them ). They also told me that there is a company called SpeedoService, and all they do is make speedo cables to order. I wasnt really inclined to spend the $42.50 + shipping when, maybe somebody on here has one for sale, or knows an interchange that could be gotten for less money. Please Help!!!!!
Hi I would contact your local parts store to see if they have a PIONEER SPEEDO CABLE PART # CA-3006 this one is 38" long or PIONEER SPEEDO CABLE PART# CA-3002 63" long either of these may fit. The best thing is IF they have them you can take your speedo head in and see if it will couple to the cable the trans end is pretty standard :Brow: I hope this Helps Ken K
reply I called my local speed shop, and they do carry Pioneer cables, but have no reference for them. They dont carry either of the part numbers you had suggested, and if they order them, I have to buy them. I called Pioneer, and they were absolutely useless. They have no idea about the products they make. I am going to try taking my speedo and old cable to the speed shop and see if I can figyre it out. Thanks, Robert
I got the NAPA numbers for you 5/8 one end 7/8 the other Napa # 615-1602 38" cable Napa # 615-1603 50" cable Napa # 615-1604 64" cable most NAPA stores carry these and they usually have them in stock Hope this helps Ken
cable Ken, Thanks for the input, thats the way I went. There are a few companies out there that will make one for you, but I couldnt find one that was under $50. That cable from my local Napa came to $16, I just hope it will be long enough. It was the longest one they had ( 64 I think you said ) I think It will be ok. The one in the car now came from a junkyard car, and was for an auto trans, and I have a manual and it still fit. I think 5 ft or so will be long enough. What do you guys think? o No: Rob
Maybe a fix Rod I ran into the same problem so I bought the cheap on also, pulled the end off the old cable and pushed onto the new one. It does notdo anything but align the cable end to the thread, no stress of any kind. It worked great for me. Weekender
