Well my beloved '89 Prelude (312,000 miles) is down right now and I have been driving the Buick. So my alternator goes out on me on the way to work this week. So I get to the nearest parking lot......get to the nearest parts house (Parts Plus) and get a rebuilt alternator. Get in in and go to work.....Very late. All looks fine, until I'm on the way home that afternoon. Guess what...the GEN light comes back on with the new alternator.:af: So I get to a parking lot, get the new one off and take it back to where I bought it. The guy puts the alternator on a tester and says,
"This thing is only putting out 4 volts."

So he brings me another one. He puts it on the tester and says,

"This one is only putting out 4 volts also, and it's my last one." :af: :af:

Now remember this is out in the sticks. There is only one parts store in this little town. So, I have to drive about 10 miles to another town to get another one.:af: :af: :af:

What kind of quality control do these alternator rebuilders have? Do they not get tested before they are sent out? What a bunch of crap.:blast:
