Hi everyone. I have some kind of short thats driving me nuts. It only happens when I'm driving and somtimes when I rev the engine I hear a relay clicking (which is pretty loud for a relay) and the engine oil light and alt light flash and my headlight will flicker not just the headlights everything.. but it really goes nuts on the road it never even slacks up for a sec, If some one could point me in the right dirrection would appreciate it ,thanks

Are you sure it is a relay you are hearing, and not arcing from a short?

If everything flickers, you might want to check the battery cables and make sure they don't move or bump into anything.

It doesn't sound like arking. it sounds like the horn relay (my horn doesn't work by the way). I thought it was my battery cables because the insulator was dryrotted. So I bought and installed brand new ones and it still done the same thing

the first thing i would check is the 2 red wires that run from the starter to the bulkhead connector on the firewall. make sure they are still wrapped and away from and hot or sharp metal. also if you have recently installed any screws from inside the car, make sure they didnt "poke" those red fat wires.

the clicking you are hearing could be (if you have power windows) a relay that is energized when the key is turned on. maybe it is that relay losing and regaining power as the short comes and goes under the hood.

    keep us posted.
