I used 2 coats of epoxy primer ....came out NaaaaYc 2 light coats of chassis black prayed on with small tip at gun .... make sure to save some chassis black for later on scratches ...
btw ...are you using Eastwood chassis black..??? whatever you use ...finish up painting and close the door for 2 days and let it dry ....don't even peek at it ..... in other words ..dont handle the frame till its good and dry .. ...don't be impatient like me ou: bcs in my case it seemed dry but wasn't..it might even take up to 4 days to fully dry counting on temp and humidity .... ** oh and make sure the metal temp is no less then 65 degrees ...usually lower than the air temp... and its been getting colder lately ... a few months ago..
Frank Used Nason chassis black from CarQuest auto parts. Finished painting, put three coats of primer and three coats of black. This is my 1st project and never painted before. I think it came out fine for my 1st time. Project is a 71 Lark. I was only going to rebuild the engine, but one thing lead to another and somehow the body ended up off the frame. ou: Body and frame are very solid for a Maine car/my 1st project. Great bunch of guys with lots of info on the board, Thanks Again.
I couldn't help laying on the paint. It looked better with every coat, especially since I had pitting. I think I did 3 primer and 3 chassis black as well. This was 2001 and the GM chassis black was still available and dried fast. That eastwood stuff dries ridiculously SLOW. I've used it.
The Nason Chassis Black dried pretty quickly. I am going with Energy Suspensions poly Bushings. In Novembers Chevy High Performance they have an article on installing Poly bushings. They take the poly inserts out as well as the center sleeve and put a liberal amount of their grease to prevent a squeeky suspension.ray: Anyone have any sqeeking? I was thinking of using the poly Body Mounts as well. Anyone have any experience using poly vs rubber mounts? Andy, How do u like that 200-4R tranny? I'm also going to install one of those trannys with 3:42 posi. How do u like that Straight Line Cam/service? Pulled the 350 and going to rebuild a 455.:3gears:
this is a good poly vs rubber thread. There is a tradeoff. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=49661 I also installed all poly body mount and suspension bushings. I have heard a squeak here and there from the suspension since I posted there. I love the 200-4R. There are a few threads where people compare the different options. I like it because it is the same size as the THM 350 and you can use the same driveshaft, yoke, speedo cable, trans mount, crossmember, shift linkage(with slight mod). You can build it with or without a lockup converter and no computer is needed. It needs no bell housing adapter. Has .67 OD, it's light and can be built to handle up to 800 HP. The downside is cost. They're not cheap if you need a really strong one. I had good luck with Straightline (Scott Brown) and have heard only good things about him.
Thanks Andy, Great link. I already have all the bushings installed on all my arms. Car will not be on the road for a couple of years, $$$$ issues. I,m going to stick with poly all the way around and see what happens at that point. It's funny how some people have lots of problems and others none and love um. Denis

Project will take a couple more years before :3gears: Denis
looks good...I'm in my 2nd year maybe more ..out of mood on and off...and pretty much in the mood now and going strong .... it seems you have the room and thats very helpful :TU:
Re: Bare frame Pictures Denis when I click on your pics to expand them it sends me to photobucket . How do I find your pics there ??
Mike, Don't know if u can expand pictures. I don't know anything about this picture posting computer cr@p . My daughter posted the pictures for me.
Unless your doing a NASCAR imitation there is nothing like MOOG rubber bushings for a nice tight and quiet ride. I have a set of brand new polygraphite bushings cheap if anyone interested. I just used poly sway bar bushings as they are quiet and reaaly keep car from leaning. Only improvement you need i think.
nice looking frames by the way. I hope I can get mine that nice soon. I get so excited looking at bare frames. :bglasses:
Thanks Dave, Slow, slow process :dollar: Poly bushings are all installed so I'm going to go with it and see what happens. What I like about the Lark is I can do any modifications and it will not decrease it value. If I had a GS, I would be forced to bring it back to original condition. Denis
