Bearings :Dou: :eek2: Ya gotta drain the water out of the column before you pull the wheel or the bearings will fall out ...... :Smarty:

  4. this happened to me once

I had this happen on a 74 LeSabre. I found all, or almost all, of the little ball bearings and put them back in their race using grease to hold them in place. Then I reassembled the column and it worked okay. However, I only had one size of ball bearing to deal with. I can't imagine how you could have two sizes. There must be some mistake. :puzzled:

    Huh??? :Do No:

If your bearing fell apart, you need to replace it. Especially if you only removed the steering wheel, and not the shaft c-clip and lockplate. Take the inner and outer races to a dedicated bearing shop (or GOOD parts house), they can cross-reference or match the size.

If I recall, there's only one bearing, it goes on the shaft before the spring that pushes against the lockplate/c-clip.
