I posted this years ago and someone sent me a service bulletin about brackets to allow you relocate your seat to put your seat back further for more leg room.

I misplaced it or just can't find it. If someone has this or dimensions of something they have used let me know. If I make some and have the stock let me know if you need the same and I can make some extra.

I heard that at one time u could buy an extension that attached to the male end of the lap seat belt.
U can buy them for the modern style lap belt ans they attach to the belt receiver.

    sorry. I misread your thread..

I have seriously considered doing the same thing at some point. I would like to raise mine up 1 or 2" and back about 3"

I have a copy of the service bulletin but I can't upload it. It only allows about 1/2" adjustment and it is for a bucket seat. Basically you make some plates that weld on the bottom of the seat track and drill new holes in it to allow moving the seat rearward, using the original holes in the floor. If you want a copy PM your email address and I will get a copy out to you. I believe that I found it on the BPG site.

LouV thanks for the info you sent. Like you said, new plates welded on front and only more holes drilled in rear, so a little more leg room and a more angle for the seat back. I may take mine out to look at some different options. this could be another project for my students in machine shop class.

It is but you can tell from the pic the thickness & shape would make them very strong. Safety first!!! But after seeing these brackets you could make them & use grade 8 bolts.

I have a power bench seat and added a 1/4 inch thick plate under the front mount. I was able to relocate the hole 1.5 inches forward and as noted in the service bulletin it rotates the back to a slightly reclined position. The trick for the power seat was modifying the rear mount, because the cable drive mechanism is flipped from the right to left, 1.5" was the max I could gain before mechanism bottoms on the bracket. I am not sure how the manual seat mounts work but if your interested I think I snapped a couple of pics of the modified mount I could send you. I am 6'3" and am now comfortable getting in and out as well as driving.

I have my seat out now, looking to experiment with some brackets. Only issue I see is the floor angles down near the back leg bolt holes after you go back about 2" or so. It may be hard to hide the bracket under the carpet.

Paul send me some pictures of your modification when you get a chance. kwsabs@embarQmail.com
