I began to recover the bench seat today for the Stage. Ran into a POSSIBLE minor snag... The Legendary cover either is not complete or really not made too well. Who has refinished a bench with fold down arm rest with Legendary pieces? Did yours have this flap? Is this cover complete or defective?
As you can see, there is a flap missing from the Legendary piece. I am hoping this is just a 'defective' piece. If it is the actual piece, I am not impressed....
    Anyone???

    George,

Mine from Legendary for my 71 Skylark has the flap part on it. I ordered it earlier in the summer. I would complain to them about it! I wonder how to attach the flap part to the lower part of the arm rest?

Call Legendary. They are great to work with and they know their products. They will stand behind what they sell.

Carl, I called Legendary and they shipped the flap. Did you recover your seats yourself? How hard was the armrest 'guts' fitting into the 'sleeve'? I cannot get the armrest inards (even stripped to metal) to fit inside of the Legedary one even after heating, stretching, etc. I HOPE I missed something....:af: :puzzled:

    George,

I had to wrestle with it a bit, but it went in.

It helps to spray a silicon spray on the material or the foam/cotton or the backside of the cover or you could place a piece of a plastic garbage bag around the cotton/foam . All of these will ease the installation of your cover and or covers.

What he said! Makes it a little easier.
Doing new covers on seat backs can be a bear but these little armrests are a major PIA.
I use the above method and sometimes I lift my 230# self off the ground pushing these down. Have ripped a few too.
Just be patient and make sure the piece is warmed up well.

Yup, it ripped- both sides. Not only that, the 'foam' slid off the metal part- which will wear the covering off in no time..

Try gluing the foam on the frame then wrap it with a piece of garbage bag . You should be able to slide the cover right over and then staple it. The plastic will also make the cover manuverable(if that is even a word)after it is on and you can staple it into position. I try to pull the plastic out before I tack it. ..You probably tore it at the back corners and that should be able to be resewn .
