It probably has been covered in another thread, but which aftermarket company has the best fitting weatherstripping? I'm looking to replace the convertible top pieces as well as the A pillar seals and the channels between the front and vent windows (whatever those are called). I know Steele is a major supplier, but how do their pieces do in terms of fit? Looks like the cost is up there no matter which company is making weatherstripping.
It's really hit or miss no matter who you use. The best stuff is NOS. I've gotten stuff from Steele that had "METRO" stamped on 'em. When I couldn't find NOS, I bought Steele, SoffSeal, and Metro, and mix-n-matched until I got what I thought fit the best on the car.
I've had Much better luck with soffseal then metro crap. The pillar post seals actually fit pretty good in my experience. The worst fitting pieces seem to be the doors.. DL
Same for me. Steele/Metro did not fit well. SoffSeal was much better. At least that was the case on my trunk.
Not to advertise for anyone, but on the advice of a good friend, I ordered the complete setup for my 67 from a guy named Tamraz on eBay. Everything has fit perfectly so far (top seals aren't all in due to other work). The doors, trunk, A-pillars and cowl seal fit perfectly. I don't know what brand he shipped, but I'm real happy so far.
I happened upon a website www.rubbertherightway.com based in San Diego. They have everything I need- prices are decent and I even got a discount. Made in USA so I thought I'd give them a try. I'll report back on how everything fits.
