    Hey.
In this information age new become old very quick. Things change. So since I'm a youngster to some being born in the 80's let me help/inform some out there how people are buying/selling Buicks, cars, parts, tools and even services.

This is what's hot now in 2017.

First let's talk about Craisglist. Craiglist is still good. Never knock craiglist brcause you could still find and sell items. My tip is to get an account with Craigslist. On the top right on Craigslist click on "account" and make one. See pic

After you make an account. Run a search, than save it. After it is saved you will be notified when someone posted that object for sale. Below you can see an email I received from my searches notifying me someone had just put up a 455 for sale and another picture with my searches in my Craigslist account profile

Doing this will save time searching and help you be able to strike first.
One more tip from craiglist is to go on CraiglistTempest.com. I use this to look for stuff outside of my area. For example I live in LA. I use Craiglist LA but someone just outside of LA let's say Barstow or San Francisco or even Vegas could have what i want. The radius all depends on what you will drive for your need. This saves time, it helpes me not running the same search in craiglist LA and then goings to Craiglist San Francisco. It saves time.

Now let's talk about what I think is the next runner up. In fact that's how I'll post them, most used first and so on.

The next one is called " Offer up". You do not need a smart phone and you can use the computer. But you could aslo download the application on to your phone.I actually like it better on the computer. All the young people are using this, I believe it's easy and this generation like it that way. Easy. Since alot of youngster are on it, they sometimes do not know a products worth. And that a win for you. Beware when selling on Offer up because many buyers if you are selling something will offer you less than what you are asking for. Hence "Offer" up.. just say NO and move on, sometime they have all the money and are testing to see if you will sell it dirt cheap. Below you can see a deal I got today a Makita drill for 30$. No charger but I found a lady selling one for 30 too. Another tip is to go into the filter location and change the zip code to some place about 60 miles form you, this will show you more after you exsausted your local area.

And below this you can see the format. To contact the buyer you can click on both options below and to save and continue you can press the heart on the top right.(picture at the very bottom as a thumbnail of a engine hoist)

Next is one called "Let go". This is very similar to Offer up in format and structure just less traveled but still used. Please do not forget to click on "filter" with all these search engines to get the best results. Below you can see some filter options for let go.

And below this is a picture of a search I ran for Buick on letgo.

After this it gets a little slow.

Another local search engine is called "close.5" it was created to attract buyers and sellers .5 miles away from them. They had allot of publicity so people still use it. I have found that the people on this site are friendlier

Facebook I hear now has a buying/selling format. I don't have a Facebook. (Happy wife happy life) but I'm told it's picking up.

Remember to use all of them. Some sellers will only use one so it benefits you to throw more rocks if you wanna hit something.

I can and will help anyone having trouble getting used to any of these
    .
If anyone has input on something I did not cover please do.

Ps. I got my 65 skylark on offer up for 1300. The guy wanted 3000. I've also been swindled. So no business after night and meet up at a burger spot if you smell something fishy.

Interesting post, thank you. Yes that approach may work in a larger, more wealthy metro area such as southern California. Craigslist however is largely a realm of bottom feeders, and scams.

Don't know if this is widely available, but Nextdoor is a blog that posts community alerts, events, happenings AND things wanted and for sale. Google it and see if it's in your area. A lot of it is furniture for free etc but sometimes car stuff comes up. It is all local to you so it's close by.

I just checked out the "nextdoor" thing, boy is that a HOOT!! I live in a somewhat rural area, but behind me is a newer "mcmansion farm" as do often pop up in former soy bean fields. Im not a member of their HOA (an invitation was declined, I wouldnt have bought this house if it was part of that), and my adjacent neighbors and I pretty well keep to ourselves save for the friendly-but-generic wave when getting the mail.

But the nextdoor.com members are pretty much all the people in this new cookie cutter subdivision, and boy is it entertaining. If I had a nickel for every post where someone said "I saw a car drive down the street yesterday that I didnt recognize so I called the sheriff" I'd have enough money to buy a new unknown car every month to drive down their street!! It was nothing but calling the sheriff over cars they didnt know (there's like 150 houses back there. Are you going to know every car or visitors car??) or complaining about the farmer driving his tractor down the nearby state route causing them to miss the beginning of their favorite show or whining to the HOA about someones flagpole being 6" out of spec!! Haha, wow. Whats better, since my street is a 50 zone with ditches on either side, when Im giving a car a test drive after maintenance I usually duck in that neighborhood (to check brakes, fuels pumps, etc) since its big wide 25mph streets, Im less likely to get run over if something fails. Id bet Ive caused a few "suspicious vehicle" sheriff calls! Haha I actually drove the hulk through there with the exhaust uncorked during the end of construction. Bet that went over like a fart in church!!!

Sorry for the sidetrack, just finding that site was the highlight of my day so far. Very entertaining..... :eek:o_O:confused: :p

I just moved out of a neighborhood like that. Every time I met a new neighbor they'd say 'oh, you're the one with the old cars!' even though several of the husbands had some sort of toys. I got along well with one guy, he used to own at least two dealerships and really liked his loud flame-painted Bronco. Money to him was just a way to get more toys and not worry about the things life throws at you.

Well wow I just went on Nextdoor in my neighborhood and I seen pictures of wanted murder suspects, stolen cars and bikes, and the West Nile virus warning.... man I need to move. Fast.
