Last spring I posted that I was going to run 275 60 DR's full time, and someone asked me to report back on how they held up. Just runnin' around town, they hold up fine and are very good for street racin' from a good roll. However, 8 passes on a 1/8 mi. track toasted them. Total miles, maybe 2,000 or so. The street didn't get 'em, but the torque sure did. Plan 'B'- DR's for the street, and slicks on the spare 8.5 wheels. Drive the backroads to the track and hope I don't get pulled over!! :3gears:
Jack, Did you change the air pressure in them before you ran or were you running the recommended psi. I wonder if this would have any effect on the wear.
All the more reason to run NItto's 555R's instead of the BFG's. I have about 40 1/4 passes and 2k on them and they will still pass inspection this year! And before every run, I do a BIG smoky burnout...... lots of rubber on the quarters and under the car when I get home :Brow: Seriously tho.... the Nittos last WAY longer and hook just about as well (you may loose .05 of a sec on your 60ft). I highly recommend them.
Jack, by tosted do you mean the tread is gone or they are not hooking as well or are they wore uneven? cords showing? what has the 60' times fallen off, were they heat cycled when they were new?
I had a set of DRs with about 80 passes and it seemed the balder they became the more the hooked ..Then I lent them to my bud with a ruststang and he ran over a nail and that was the end of those one I like them so much bought a nother set
Jacks last post that filled this spot was deleted because the date errored on his post putting it 27 years in the future and would not allow him to post any longer and not because i was just feeling ole high and mighty or anything.
There was a thread on the MT DRs and some testing against Hoosiers. I haven't been able to find it. Can you guys steer me to it please? Thanks.
