    1970Stage1 Why Go Quietly?

Does anyone know of a tire company that makes a 14" tire bigger than 225/70, and also bigger than a 245/60. The Ideal size for me is a 235/70. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

  2. I've done some searching for 14" sizes, and found there are definitely a lot more choices in 15" tires. That's why I'm swapping to 15's, maybe this spring/summer. Have you searched on tirerack.com yet?

  3. They've got 235 60 14's and 245's.

Yes I did look on tirerack, Dunlop makes a 225/70, and they are relatively cheap. That size it slightly small for a 7" rim, but they'll have to do. I wish I could find a wider tread width. :Do No:

I looked for quite a while 2 years ago and 245/60R14 was the biggest I could find. You'd be much better off finding a decent set of 15" rims, the selection is MUCH bigger.

I checked Costco, they have BFG's in 225/70, 245/60, and 265/50, and I think those are the maximum's for 14's. 225/70's were $74 each, and that included installation and disposal.

I had a friend with a 70 Javelin that searched for big 14's, best he could do was 245-60, BFG will on occasion run some odd sizes for special orders, I had a friend with a camaro get 265-50-14's, they were a little pricey and took awhile to get but it's what he wanted.

B F Goodrich makes a 265/50R14 tire. i use that size on my '72 skylark for quite awhile on a 14x7 inch rim. the rim was alittle undersized for the tire width though. i will have to warn you, there is a chance these tires will rub. with mine it was on the sway bar. i will have to admit they did handle well for such a small diameter tire.
you can find these tires at costco and tirerack.com
    i hope this helps
