OK guys, I know somebody on this board was talking about how they have fit a 12" rims under their GS. NOW, I have made excellent wheel well LIP modifications. Almost to the point of nonexistance under the wheel well. I have a ford 9" housing, most likely the 59.25" housing I want to fit a a12X15 under my wheel wells, with a 13 X 30 Wrinkle Wall SLICK! CAN IT BE DONE, and what backspacings are we talking about. My current 10 X 15's with 26" DOTs is getting close. Who makes the best lightest drag rims around, and what length is the GM housing? thanks Josh
I've been told by Summit that the lightest streetable wheel is the Weld Draglites. You can find these a lot on ebay in the size you're looking for. There are lighter wheels, but they are twice the price and only for the track. They will not take the riggors of the road such as going up curbs into driveways, parking lots, and whatnot.
Hi Josh, just out of curiosity, why do you want to run such a big slick? That time posted below is from a 9 inch slick in a 3860 lb. stock bodied car.
stock bodies getting traction I guess the main thing I am after is traction and traction secrets. I dont have the motor you have, and my car weighs roughly the same. So I'm just after what guys are doing to get the right start when the tree drops. I also think those big tires would look cool, and I thought somebody else put a really big rim under their GS. thanks for your help.
Hey Josh, no doubt bigger tires look way cooler that is for sure! I run adustable uppers, a big rear sway bar and QA1 Shocks. That is it. I get harassed because of my "Little Wimpy Tires". You can fit a 12.5" ET Street Tire under a stock body, and they hook real well also.
