Dennis, thank you for your informative post. It's amazing how fast fear spreads this day and age.

Come to think of it, we had a customer that had her passenger side air bag deploy without any reason. Just driving down the road, and POP! When I heard about the car being towed in, I was sure that I would find a reason. I was surprised to find absolutley no impact damage anywhere on the car, including under it. Only the passenger air bag deployed (???????) We were stumped. Toyota sent some guys out to inspect it, including the manufacturer of the air bags computer. They found nothing that could explain it. They were not authorized to pull the recorded data from the computer either. My guess is that since no one was injured, it was serious enough to warrant this measure. NOW THINK ABOUT THAT: It was not serious enough. Not that something serious "couldn't" have happened, it just didn't in this case. What I am saying is, they could care less about you speeding down the road.

Personally, I think that if you are doing some heavy illegal stuff, the government should be able to track your stupid ass. After 9/11 you thought the same didn't you? The country was pissed off. Now, it's all back to whining and crying about our rights. What has changed that actually has effected us? Longer lines at airports? That's to try to prevent you and your loved ones from becoming a bloody spot on the ground. It's all a conspiracy until someone you know is gone. :spank:

Sorry, I had to vent. My post is not intended to fan the flames...

I am assuming that the vehicle you are describing is a Toyota. Toyota must be having problems with their airbag systems. Especially on the pick-ups. I have seen several come into the bodyshop I work at that have mysteriously deployed airbags, with no apparent damage,or very light damaga. Or , severely crashed Toyota's that had no airbag deployment at all.The insurance companies involved have even gone so far as to remove the vehicle for investigation at a different location.

Yes Junkman, it was a Toyota. As far as I know, Toyota has no common issues with airbags. This is the first time I have ever seen this happen. 15 years and tens of thousands of Toyota's have come through my department. Without a doubt though at any given time, every manufacturer has multiple lawsuits going in regards to airbag systems. It just depends on who you ask if it is common or not. :)
