I'm doing full repro quarters on a chevelle (for a friend, not mine) and I'm wondering how the black primer on them is as far as doing bodywork and priming over? I really don't think I am going to feel like stripping the primer off before refinishing. I just don't want to run into problems with the pain peeling. Anyone ever leave this stuff on and how did things turn out?

    Thanks

Sand the stuff off. I would not trust it. You would be regretting not doing it if something goes wrong.

I did a pair of Dynacorn Chevelle quarters and left it on. Rule of thumb, if it washes off with laquer thinner it is not a true E coat and take it off.
The quarters we had did not wash off and through out the process had very good adhesion. I would however, suggest spraying Epoxy on the panel before doing bodywork over it .

    Good Luck

E coat is made to be sealed and painted as is. I would do any body work before anything, primer and block only those areas, and then seal it.
