Black Tri Shield Floor Mats Needed

Unfortunately I learned at BG that CARS is out of floor mats and will not have any for 6-9 months. We need at least a set of new repro front mats for our 70 GSX resto project. If any one has a set stored they would sell please let us know. I believe these are only remade by CARS. Other vendor mats are not correct.

Thanks Keith. Since the focus on the GSX is to keep it as original as possible the mats would have to be the white tri shield in a white circle but with no GS as I recall. I went to BG for the day to buy a set only to find out that Cars only has seconds. How can you let your inventory on such an item lapse for 9 months?

I wish I could remember who I bought my mats from, but it has been at least 3 years. I went to the Roadster Show here in Portland and there was a vender from the East Coast that was selling all kinds of reproduction mats. He had the Buick tri-shield black mats, and all other colors of course, but I did buy a set from his company, and they are correct Black tri-shield mats for the 70-72. It took at least a month to get them, but they arrived in great shape and a great reproduction. I will look through my reciepts and see if I can find the name of the buisness and the number for you, and then you can investigate it for yourself to see if it is what you want.

 

Andrew that would be nice but to my belief only CARS is making them and they are out for 6-9 months. So I was looking for a set someone may have stashed and wee not using.

 

Well, I don't have any extra mats laying around myself, but I hope you find what you need. By the way, how much is CARS asking for a set of front and rear mats for the 70-72?

 

I do not know the current price but I guess around $200- 250.

 

That sounds like Legendary Auto Interiors. They make them for the Buicks.

 

I agree but they are not the same as the original mats now remade by CARS.

Jim, I am going to post a couple of pics here in the next few days of my floormats I purchased a few years back. I would like you to tell me if they are correct repro's or not. Any help appreciated on this, thanks.

I just checked my repoduction rear handy mats from CARS and the tri-shield emblem is more yellow than white. I tried to clean it to see if they were white but they stayed a yellow tint compaired to the original front mats that I have. o No:

I never really noticed how "yellow" they were until I put them next to my originals...

They had a number that were defective that they were selling as seconds. Perhaps you got some by mistake before it was picked up.
