I added a picture of my 72 to the 68-72 thread. Then someone noted that my headlight bezels were not black. When I got my 72 GS 350 Convertible, the headlight bezels were chrome. It is a real GS. Was this an option or would all GS cars had the blacked out bezels? My car was converted to bucket seats, so I know a donor car was involved so maybe the headlight bezels came from that one. I did spray them with a satin black, and it came out a little more shiny than I hoped. Should they be totally Flat? Anyone got a picture of what they should look like?
To my knowledge, all Skylark and GS's had the dark charcoal on the bezels in 72. I'd bet that someone just preferred the chrome look.
Your vin # will tell you if its a GS or not. I consider the bezels to be like jewelry on a GS. Here is an all chrome set I put on my cars once in awhile for a change, kinda looks like the car is smiling :laugh:

Thats great info to have. My Vin checks out. 4G67K2Hxxxxxx I did mine with a satin black and I kind of like it better than the chrome. I plan to re-do my wheels too, and I think I'll do black on them too.
Dark argent is what they are *supposed* to be. Some have also said the grille shuld be dark argent too, although I know for a fact my original was black. Its odd, my 71 is mostly chrome and it looks good. My 72 I didn't really like the rubber on the bumpers or the darked out scoops/grille/headlight bezels but they grow on you. Now they look better once painted rather than just straight chrome but that is just my opinion of coure. Mine aren't mounted yet, but here is a pic off my website. later Tim
I have 2 sets of the bezels ...my originals and an extra set off ebay that i got for cheap....... both colors are like a primer black type..maybe charcoal like ...no shine/no sheen whatsoever . o No: maybe that fella that mentioned charcoal pearl is on 2 something..? ..and I'm still looking for a set with no pits.. ou: btw...not sure ...but isnt that chome pc. that goes across front hood suppose 2 be body color as well... o No:
now that you posted that picture, I think my wheels are done with that! maybe Dark argent is what I'll use to re-paint them. maybe I'll do the headlights again too o No: I'll check out that paint mentioned in the other thread. - plasti-kote product cc 9091 , charcoal pearl , in a small rattle can.
