One of the boys at work acquired a rebuilt and hopped up 350? chevy motor and wants to know what block and heads it has as they are factory castings.

Heads have GM 24 and 3884520.

    Block has 3849852.

Does anyone have any websites to check the numbers with?

    Thanks

    not a 350

well i'd think your friend got taken. those numbers tell me that it a 283 heads are 60 cc '60-'67 , probabaly the famed power-pacs heads( not a double hump style) . look for a single triangle on the end , and the lack of accessory bolt holes. and the block is '64-'67 283, 2 bolt main , small bearing journal go to www.mortec.com/castnum.htm for more info. i havent heard of any one passing of a 283 as a 350 . the 283 should have a little balancer and as i said no acc. holes on the heads and a canister oil filter, have him look for a spin on convert kit and a refund. 283's are sometimnes pawned as 327's but a 350? hard.

    Thanks for the info.

As usual I knew I could count on my Buick buddys to come through for me. You saved me a lot of time searching on this big old internet.

He says the machine shop that built it never got payed and it sat for a year and so the machine shop gave it to him for some work he did in trade. Maybe the machine shop forgot what it was. Anyway he wants to put it in a jeep.

    Thanks again :)
