When You rebuild 430 you are goin to block oil at the block anyway. It's cheaper to go to 455 valvetrain and feed oil thru pushrods. Sorry for off top:bla:

Thanks Tom. It is a later 455. I have never had oil seeping out the back corner of my heads before. I know for sure! Its NOT valve cover or intake leaking, so I thought maybe oil was coming down thru the head.

Rob, I believe that the '70/455 oils through the rocker shafts. '71 up oil through the pushrods. So, if you have a '70 blocking the oil holes applies. If a '71 up IT DOES NOT & you are leaking oil from some where's else.

Nope. 70 oils through the pushrod too!

    Back to nailheads :D
Another aggravating leak from the head/block interface when using the 0.015 steel gaskets can be caused by oil draining back through the pushrod holes in the head/block and getting past the gasket (maybe because there is less clamping force in that area or poorly machined parts). Victor and Felpro used to say there is no sealer needed on those gaskets, but I started using Copper Coat with good results and on the last one with no Copper Coat on hand anaerobic sealer rolled on worked. You can seal those areas once the head is installed, but it is a big PIA.
