    Dear Friends

I woke up this morning, and I decide I was tired of peering through a tiny hole in a foggy windshield every time I wanted to go for a drive. I pulled out my trusty spare heat/defrost blower, and took out the old one. But, of course there was a problem. The blowers didn't match. The one I bought from a guy on ebay had about the same shape and size, but the one from my car had a strange little hose coming out of the side that my new blower doesn't have. Any idea what it is? My only theory was that it had somethjing to do with my car having AC? :Do No:

    Mike,

On my century that little hose had to be transfered to the new motor. Your new motor should have a hole for this hose. I believe it it there for cooling air to get to the windings of the motor.

The trick is, Eric... the new motor doesn't even have a hole for it! Thats what threw me so badly about it.

:Do No:  Might not be the right blower, for some other application maybe. :Do No:

Well, it bolted on, all the screws matched up, and it blows great... now I just have yet another wierd hose that leads nowhere flopping around under the hood. Should I be worried about this, do you think? Fire hazzard? Or will it work?

It will probably work till the cows come home. No fire hazzard that I can see. If it gets too hot the motor will just quit running.

Stampy, make sure you aren't leaving a vacuum leak by leaving the hose off. In thoery you could chase it to the other end and just find it's place in the grand scheme of things. In 1966 auto engineers didn't do too many unnecessary things. It probably was to blow air in and cool the motor, but you really should find out. Good Luck, Tom
