My 70 Skylark GS heater doesn't blow in any speed position. It has power to the heater so I'm guessing the blower motor is shot. My question is do the A/C and non A/C car use the same blower motor for the heater? Bob H.
Hi Bob I just went though this. Using a test light I tested for power at the blower motor with key on and heather on high. - nothing Followed that back to the relay on the firewall. Tested the red wire from the relay to the green/red connector that comes though the firewall, and it DID have power. So I used a jumper wire and put 12v directly to the relay (single connection on the drivers side of the relay, top left of the picture above) and the blower worked! So I had main power at the relay, but no power activating the relay. Next I checked the fuse, and I could tell it was blown before I took it out. Someone put a 10A in there, and its supposed to be 25A Once I replaced the fuse, the blower started blowing. Try all this first, as you practically have to remove the fender and inner fender to replace the blower.
On my 72 GS its a different blower. Factory Air Part No. 35587 for AC cars FYI non ac cars take Factory Air Part No. 35472, so just make sure you get the right one. I went to Advance to get mine. Have fun getting it out. Have to remove fender etc etc. That is when I noticed my body mounts were shot so an inexpensive job is turning it replacing mounts, vinyl top(don't ask) and a repaint. Have fun and HTH Bill G
The AC unit is bigger and heavier and should have a big hole in it for the rubber drain hose. The Non Ac does not have the hole.
Thanks for the illustration Curtis. I'll see what I can find out. I just bought a blower motor but if I didn't have to install it I wouldn't care. Bob H.
