I have a new project I have been trying to get together for the last year. I want to build a 66 Lark wagon and use it as my tow rig. Paint it the same color same wheels interior etc. I have a problem with the power plant. I thought about a 455 but I dont think it will stay cool pulling the car and running the AC. So I started to put a 350 together for it. I hear the underr hood super chargers or blowers are being made for both the 350 and 455. So my question is will it fit in my 66 with a 350,AC,Pwr steering? Or should I just stick to my 350 natural asperated? I want enough torque to pull the car and trailor but not under power the wagon. A 455 would solve tha power problem but The heat is what bothers me. A 350 in this car would run very cool.( have a 67 with 350 and runs 180-190 in 100+ temp out side with AC on. Any help on this or info would be great guys.
    Thanks Doug

blowers compress air and when air is compressed the temp. goes up. Sorry, no free lunch.

Yes thats true, when air is squeezed it'll get hot. Thats how an internal combustion engine makes power. I don't think it'll get hot enough to overheat though. In actuality, it'll run about the same temp with a carb on it. The blower is obviously less restrictive than a stock manifold, therefore the air can move faster pace and still keep cool. I'd say go for the blower, it'll give the 350 a lot more low end grunt, and more top end HP. Ever think about building a 500 Caddillac for it? I know someone who put one in a 72 chevy half ton 2X. That thing has soooo much torque it'll spin donuts(effortlessly) in an asphalt parking lot with 3.08 gears! :TU: Hope this helps, Kevin

    alec296 i need another buick

    350 engine

you could stay with the 350 and get a good replacement cam (ta would help with any q's and a's) poston has cams too. i hear alot of people running a ta 212 and having great luck(and power). how big a trailor ?a big enuff radiator (maybe bigblock rad) and i suggest elect fans atleast for aux set on thermostat so kicks on only when need alittle extra. or run straight with no fan on engine
just make sure chaginge system can handle ac and fans running.with all the stuff and tech now you should have no prob with overheat if you get the right stuff. as for power my 350 pulls good with the ta rv cam and pulls a smaller trailer good. :TU:

Stabbing in a cam is too easy. It takes talent to build a blower motor.:TU: Stick with your blower idea, its too cool! Thanks, Kevin
