Was doing Back to the Bricks last night. Cruising north on Saginaw and there was a nice 69 Chevelle in about the same spot on the rolling traffic jam and we got next to each other a few times. Kept hearing a whine and thought it was just my car but it was coming from the left where the Chevelle was. We got stopped next to each other and could talk a bit. Asked if he had a blower and yes he did. Same D-1 as me on a 383 small block. Says he runs 10 pounds of boost. Kept going north into Flint and he let me in front to cruise through town. Cops are everywhere on Saginaw street for the cruise so just idled though. Took a right on 5th and Chevelle followed. Over 475 and onto Robert T where the road turns straight. Chevelle pulls next to me and we are rolling about 35 and I am in second gear when the Chevelle nails it. I hit the Buick and it pulls right now, no spin, no hesitation. I hear the Chevelle spin and sputter a little, then finally start to go. Too late for him. Buick pulled him 2 lengths and is gone. Not being fools we both back off at the top of second gear. Nice guy, waves and makes left. I give him a thumbs up and head back to the cruise. A good night.
Very cool! These are the stories I like to hear. A couple car guys having some fun and appreciating each others rides, but not getting stupid. Of course it's all the better when the buick shows the hen who the rooster is....
