Just as an FYI...I took a look today at the 71 GS 455 that is currently on Ebay. If any board member is looking at buying this car, I can give you a pretty detailed description of the condition. Im not up on inserting links, but the item number is 2460618530.

Gorgeous car. Notice the old firestone wide ovals. :TU: :Brow:

I dont know if any of the current bidders are board members, but just a word of warning on this car. The owner admitted that the car was involved in an accident when I saw it. The car was hit and hit very hard at some time in its past. There are two very large dents in the lower metal part of the dash where the drivers knees hit. Its so bad that the instrument cluster is at slightly different angle than it should be. I suspect the frame is bent as there is a severe gap where the hood meets the grille on the right side. Theres also a suspicious gap in the front top corner of the left side door glass. I suspect the winshield post has a slight foreward bend. I would hate to see someone pay 10 grand on a car thats this hurt. It looks far far better in the pictures than it does in real life.

It looks like a good driver car though. I like the paint.

Turns out that the seller stated to another board member that this car is original paint! Funny, when I went to look at it, it had an enamel paint job on it complete with overspray on the frame rails and wheel houses. The high bidder of this car is in for quite a shock. Hopefully he doesnt buy it sight unseen.

The ebay ad says the car has 83,000 original miles and the Firestones ovals are original. I could never get more than about 15K out of a set. I suppose there is an explanation. Perhaps the tires were removed and put back on for the sale. But he says they are worn out?

The seller said they were replacements. the DOT number on the spare says it was made in 1979. I couldnt check the tires on the car as the DOTs are on the backside.

    Per ebay ad:

"Could use a new set of tires (Still has original tires)"

He had some selective memory loss about the extend of the accident damage as well. No matter what he says about the car to any of the prospective bidders, the car speaks for itself. You just need to apply some basic "Automotive forensics".
