For those who have swapped a 200R4 in a 71-73 Riv, what did you do for a driveshaft? I've got a lead on a shop her ein the area who can make a custom driveshaft but they were saying due to the length and horsepower requirements of my engine, the shaft will need to be 3.5 - 4" in diameter. Just wanted to poll all Rivi owners ot see if they have any suggestions. Thanks.
A stock 200R trans will break before the stock diameter driveshaft. A stock 200R was never designed for a car that weighs so much that is powered by an engine making so much torque.
i have a stock diametershaft in mine still, but i changed pinion angle to what is normally acceptable to do away with the cv joint thing.. you should then be able to use stndard yokes etc.. but if they want to go up in size, by all means do it. and if that 2004r takes a crap give California Performance Transmissions a call, they have one that will do 1000hp..
The 200R4 was built by Transmission Depot to handle 600hp...not worried about the transmission. I'm not really worried about the diameter of the driveshaft. I'm more looking for a solution to the length issue. I was just seeing if everyone needed to have a custom shaft made or if there are any other vehicles with a long enough shaft to work or be shortened to work.
So, for those not following my build thread, i had a custom 4" alum shaft made with 1359 solid u-joint and utilized a cv eliminator flage to bolt to the stock pinion flange. The driveshaft measurement was 64.25 inches for anyone who might want to swap a 200r4 into a 71-73 riv.
Wondering if anyone is still on tgis tgread. I need to k.ow stock specs for drive shaft. Length and so on.
