I just bought a nic 67 2door post GS I think 300 2 barrel carb. I was told it was a 340 but I'm not sure how to tell. The cowl tag is as follows.

    03B
    67-43407FLI 166479
    TR 118-A P-2

    E 2CEXR 3W

    4FL 5KY

Thanks for any help you may share.:)

    This car (34 = GS 340) came with a 340 engine.

Engine number for the '67 340 in the GS is NB.
260 HP, 4 bbl and 10.25:1 comp. ratio

Since there's a 2 bbl on the engine, it looks like there's a different mill in the car, or somebody (not likely) changed the intake and carb.

Engine number is the quickest way to tell you what you've got there.

    Good luck :TU:

I should ask forgiveness now, but, I am a chevy guy. I'm not sure where to look to check the engine code. Where should I look?? Thanks for any help getting me up to speed.

I finally got through all the paper work I got with the car. I can't find a build sheet, but I have the protecto plate and the factory punch card for this car. All the numbers on the punch car match the body tag except 67-434 on the body tag, the punch card shows 67-433, so I assume this means 300 two barrel. I have emailed a guy that has a similiar 67 GS with a factory V6, kind of strange. But, if I have the paper work to prove it they must have made GS with a 300 V8, and V6. The car does have all the gs trim without the hood scoops. I also bought it from the original owner and that's the way he got it from the dealer.
    Thanks:)

I think your car is equiped with the "W1" option. It was a "GS" trim package that came without the hood scoops. The car is not a true GS, it just has the GS trim package. I wonder why GM offered this package?

That is amazing. In 20 yrs in Buick GS world I have NEVER heard of that. I'll admit, I would have thought you were somking something if you had not had the documentation to show.
    WOW

Are there engine displacement badges (340 OR 400) under the GS emblems on your quarters?
If not, I believe you DO have the "GS" trim package Mike described. A GS 340 would have a 340 emblem under the GS.

    Who said I was'nt...:bglasses:

It is a weird option though, kinda a factory clone without the H.P.

There are no engine size emblems on the car at all. It is a two door post car, but does not have the trim that is described as W2 earlier.
It has A/C, tilt wheel, power steering, vinyl top, rear speaker and vinyl bench seat interior. Silver paint with black top.
I guess it is the body tag that is wrong, 434 code is 340 so it must have just got tagged wrong in Flint
It does have GS grill with GS emblem, GS quarter trim, GS trunk trim. So, it looks like they built them how they wanted. Because it looks like it never had the wheel trim or post trim. It also never had the belt mouldings. Strange car.
Thanks for all the info, I think the factory clone theory is a good story for people that ask.
I didn't get an owners manual for it though. In case anyone out there has a spare.
    Thanks
    Peter
