As you guys know I have a 72 455 GS, I have a problem with the fuel boiling in the carburetor. I know there is a heat shield available for Chevrolet but is there one available for Big Block Buicks and will this help. AL.

    AL,
The heat shield is carb specific, so whatever works on the Chebby will also work on your Buick. If you are having fuel boiling problems, you must be running on the warm side. I tell you how to fix the problem permanently. Just block off the heat crossover in the intake manifold. Of course the choke won't work properly, but we don't need no stinkin chokes :Brow:

Larry, my 455 don't run hot, but notice the intake in the middle get very hot. So it looks like I have some options, completly block the intake cross runners and use a electric choke or use restricter plate on the cross runners. Some of this mess maybe cause by not using a air pump and EGR system. AL.

I did rejet the one Scott gave me with the car and it has improve the problem so you may be on to part of the problem. I really noticed it when I set up a 1970 455 carburetor for member "austingta". I don't remember installing any restricters in the gaskets like Chevrolet uses, AL.

EGR drops exhaust temps. You could Jet up some more, and see what happens.

What would be the max you would think I should use? I'm using a #47 and #75 combo now, AL.

AL, assuming you have a 72 800 CFM carb, .075 jets with 45B rods. That is the jetting on the 1972 Stage1 carb.

You are correct!!! I'm using a stage1 cam. I think in time I will spring for the T/A Stage1 set of heads :Brow: AL.
