I tried to search the forum but didn't come up with a definitive answer. I have a 66 Skylark convt with power drum brakes. It has the slightly smaller brake booster than my 67 Skylark. Right now it has the single master cylinder and I want to put a disc setup off a 69/70 442 on it. My questions:

    1. Can I use the existing booster with a dual master from a disc/drum car? (I know the 67 up booster will allow this, but not sure about the smaller 66 booster.)

    2. Can I use the 14" Buick Rallye wheels with a factory disc setup from a 70 442 or do I need to move up to 15" wheels?

The smaller the booster, the less power assist. I just put a 9" with a 68 dual MS on my 65, but kept the drum brakes. I'll put you through the windshield if need be. Works good.

You will need to get a MS for disk/drum and a proportioning valve for the rear drums.

I was wondering about a smaller booster too, as the 9" may need to come off to pull the 455, a 7" would have been a better fit, but I had a 7" factory setup on a 65 F100 and unless you looked, you couldn't tell the brakes were power.

Don't know about the wheels, do the 14" fit on the 442? That should tell you if it'll work.

Thanks Keith. I guess I can get a new master cylinder and give it a try. I was just hoping someone that has done this could confirm.

As far as the 14" wheels, I'm not sure, the brake parts were already off the car when I picked them up from a yard so I don't know what size wheel the 442 was using. I guess I'll have to see what happens.
