I drove down to Dragway 42 yesterday for Test & Tune. I figured it's cold enough to try for a new personal best. I was in line behind a really nice 69 Chevelle (on a trailer) with "Big Bad Bow Tie" painted on his cowl scoop. I made a cleanout pass, and then found myself matched up with, guess who? I put a serious hole shot on him, and he was running me down, BUT, I got the yellow time slip. My 11.44 beat his 11.54. I capped her up, aired up the tires, and drove home with a new best time & speed. I'm ready to put her up for the winter. Time slip attached.
Thats the way to do it. Drive it there, lay down some killer numbers, drive it home. Way to go :beers2:
Not to mention that you drove it to and from the track, unlike a lot of people. My dad has a friend with a wicked 62 Impala. I was polishing some aluminum for him and we got to talking about how it's too bad he can't drive it down the street. He raised an eyebrow and said, "There's a tag on it, isn't there?" Sure enough. I know I got off on a tangent, but awesome job. -Josh
you smacked him down with a 400? mwahahaha. what was he running? it would really be hilarious if he had a 454.
Excellent run!!! :TU: And a very good Kill Story!!! :blast: I like that you just aired up and drove home as he put his pounded puppy back on a trailer. :gp:
Another great kill! Them Chebby guys think they have it made! I hope to turn some Chebby heads when my cars are finished
Congratulations Michael!!!! Nice run.:TU: I can't believe Dragway 42 is still open..... I still think there's another tenth or two in that car..... Talk with you later, Lon
Nice job Mike. Dragway 42 is open all year as long as the track is clean. They always have their Hangover Run on Jan. 1st if it's not snowing. Is it still just $10 to get in and run all night?
Glad to see the rear still holding....yes? Just let me know if we need to double check it too. Great runs...still have not touch my motor...disassembled in the old basement going on the second year of letting it slip bye... To many rears to build....Good and bad thing I guesss. Great Runs:TU:
Jim, the rearend is doing fine. (I hope) I'll call you in a couple weeks and have you come down to take a look inside. The new 439 makes a lot of power, and I'm hitting that rearend pretty hard with my 3800 rpm stall. I think it would be money well spent to have you take a look after 2 years use on it. Thanks again for the excellent rearend and craftsmanship.
