Get get rid of this one no matter how I try!

It show up as SEXX on the desktop of course with the image of a womans face. It some sort of webdailer veiwer thingy-ma-bob. Now normally I'm pretty good at looking out for this junk but his one slipped by me. And now no matter what spyware remover software I run, even if I manually go through the windows folders and take out all remnents of it, I just can't get rid of it. It shows up as TIBS in Spybot And is in a folder called Websiteviewer. Any ideas, it's driving me nuts!

I was at a hotel with that problem

They could not get rid of it either. I think it had a womans face and a red outline. No matter what they did it was still there. I told them to leave it I just needed to use there computer in the business center.
    Good luck

Make sure its not running at all before running spyware removal tools. You have kill the process itself by going into the task manager, clicking the processes tab and looking for the program. Hopefully it has a recognizable name. Kill it, then try running the tools, including Spyware Doctor. Hopefully that will get rid of it.

If the other suggestions don't work, you could try looking it up on google (search for SEXX spyware or something like that), there are a lot of computer forums with good info about removing malicious software. I got one program that kept changing my home page and opening popups, and the dang thing would keep renaming itself so it was real difficult to track. A friend of mine found a couple sites with step by step instructions on how to remove it. To keep it from happening again I switched to Firefox, now I never get spyware.

    Try Hijackthis

This free software will scan your h/d and list what it thinks is spyware. Then it will uninstall it for you(after you tell it to do so), even if it does not show up on the add/delete windows utility.

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

If you have XP try using System Restore. Just use the last known date this "TIBS" was not on your computer.

Have you tried to remove it while your cpu is in the safe mode?

the 2 best things i can recommend have already been mentioned.
Run Spybot S & D with the computer booted up in safe mode.
If that doesn't work, do the same with Hijack This.
I do not believe System Restore will even get rid of it. I have found some of this spyware screws with system restore and it will not let you restore to a point before the infection occured.

Make sure you turn off System Restore before you try removing it. Sometimes if System Restore is left on while removing things like this, it's moot to even try removing it. :Comp:

All right here is what I've done, to no avail. I've run Highjackthis, spybot, lavasoft adaware in normal and safe mode, turned off system restore, cleaned out all of my temp files, emptied it all out of my recycle bin. It doesn't show up in the add/remove screen. Here is the really irritating part. After I run my spyware remover it takes car pf it. Until the next time I fire up the computer and log onto the net, it seems to have embedded itself as a plug in in Mozilla and IE, and it's keeping IE from working at all. I'm at work now, so I can't try anthing new, I'll have to tackle it tomorrow.

I got a piece of annoying Pop up spyware-adware. Adaware and spybot did nothing for it. Hijackthis also didn't catch it. try Spysubtract pro... It worked so well, I actually bought it. Has an active feature that'll tell me if a site is trying to place spyware on my puter. Has a 30 day free trial so you don't hurt anything by trying.

I found it on another BB... here's the link

    http://67.15.19.177/showthread.php?t=40251

You'll find links to a couple of programs on there, as well as some other advise.

    Good Luck.

make sure you've got a good antiviral program running.

Ad Aware is the other major spyware utility besides spybot.

any worm/virus/trojan worth it's salt is going to have registry entries that will need to be deleted.

open Task Manager and pull up your process list and google any program name that looks even slightly odd.

as a general principle, you should eliminate as much crap from your startup folder and task bar as is feasible. the more background stuff you have the worse although so many people never notice the performance hit anymore because the computers are getting so fast.
