MMMMM, Funny thing when I suggested that maybe the BCA will embrace a performance division in another thread. I was told that in no way would the BCA have anything to do with racing. Tim
There was BUICK drag racing at Bunker Hill Dragstrip when the BCA Nationals was held in Kokomo IN a few years back. Roberta pulled it all together. They even had a ladies race and my 15 year old daughter won it in the '87 T-type that i had bought her.....she did'nt even have her learners permit yet. So racing at a BCA event can be accomplished if we try. Peace WildBill
In 2003 at the BCA Nats. There was a full day of drag racing that was part of the event ! Yes , It was Buick'S 100 th anniversary show and everyone had fun ! Bill
This is great news as I had a great time at Norwalk last year:TU: None of us are getting any younger either, so lets have fun with our Buicks:3gears:
All, There has been a tremendous amount of thought, discussion, and effort put into getting all folks that have enjoyed BPG events on a path to have the opportunity to continue "Buicks & Fun". As Alan noted, this is a much better option than hanging the gone fishin' sign. The BPG has been very silent of late, but that does not mean there hasn't been a lot of discussion and idea generation in the background. I can say with certainty that no one on the BOD was willing to see the club go away and everyone wanted to do what is in the best interest of its members. I know people need to get their heads wrapped around this news, but I think when you do you'll share the excitement we have about being part of a larger national stage dedicated to our beloved Buicks. We do need to step through this and develop a new reality. It is not lost on Sean, Brad, and I that this group likes to race. As there are many BCA events throughout the year as opposed to one national event, it isn't a stretch to consider more than one racing event as part of a regular program. The BPG was heading there with one event, now the possibilities have expanded. It will just take time as the BCA/BPG folks get used to each other and develop a solid plan. I've heard some of the accounts of people with modified cars getting their chops busted. Well, there is always someone with an opinion. Is that any worse than having someone ask you about your Chevelle at a local car show? LOL Ignore, be proud, and know that the main stream appreciators outweigh the fringe. We're entering an exciting period and everything won't be worked out Day 1. Stick with it, offer opinions, and keep a positive attitude! Bucks bring us together, friendships keep us together. Onward and upward!
Bc you said bpg is all about racing . Other words don't see what the change is other then converting to BCA memberships ( great ) . The BCA already has A body cars in attendance and modified as well . With the current BCA protocol for National events in 17 is set for California, or west coat . Are all the bpg east coasters going to travel to Cali ? ( would be great if they did ) just curious if you negotiation for a change in the Nationals traveling protocol? Thanks DL
umm yeah good luck with that. If there is one outburst on the tour bus you guys knee's will get wacked with canes ! DL
From Brian Cook BCA President BPG will still remain as a non profit and is in charge of The Performance Division of the BCA. I was asked to to head up that Division and also run for a Directors Position. The Buick Club of America is proud to announce a new addition to our ranks. The Buick Performance Group is now officially "The Performance Division of the BCA", complete with all the benefits and perks of BCA membership! We would like to formally welcome all 67 of their members into our family. We would like to thank Sean Ryder, Brad Conley, and Ken Lisk of the BPG, and Alan Oldfield, Mike & Nancy Book, and the Board of Directors from the BCA for making this happen. The BPG is a group of passionate Buick enthusiasts who focus on Buick performance as well as Buick history. We all feel that this new partnership is going to benefit both groups. Please welcome "The Performance Division" to the Buick Club of America!
Thanks to all for your efforts. So...I'm a BPG member, but typically re-up at the event each year. Should I just send my $ to the BCA now, 'cuz I plan to go to Allantown? Do I even mention the Buick Performance Division? Brian's a nice guy, met him at several Nats.

So far we have had 2 requests and one said to donate dues to the club. Request for refund should be posted in the members only section of the BPG website http://www.buickperformancegroup.com/forums/showthread.php?12737-BPG-joins-the-BCA
Moving on...to the BCA Nats in Allentown, Pa.... July 27-30.... where are the BPG members staying? I don't want to miss the party! And will there be a parking area set aside for BPG? I read the BCA is assigning parking spots by model year.
