From my personal point of view, it was great to finally meet people I've been 'chatting' to for a long time. Too many to list. Paul Manual, Jim Ramsey & Chris (from the offenders), Jim Lore (super guy. glad that Charlie petered out). Met Carl Creque for an instant, but he dove into the Red Roof when the cops came. On the other hand, I went right back out there. Offense is the best defense. Best pals were the McMillans, David G, and GS Johnny hanging out in the pits. George N surprised me.. Such a young guy... Yardley, Smartin, Bruce Hunter, etc. Too many others to mention. Stage2 Scott from CA. Dana and Beth. Chicagoland folks like the Bonecutters, Bruce & Shirl. And many more. I may have seen Annie Oakley hobbling around the pit area, but that could have been my imagination. So anyways... I showed some pics around in China. You'd be amused by the reaction. Old cars. Ha ha ha. Smoke? (yes it's from the tires, not the engine) QQ GSX pic... Taxi? For a reality check, here's a pic of my Buick in China and my driver. Fact that I don't drive much makes the racing all that much better when back in the USA and there's a chance to do it.
Mike, It was great meeting you and BSing at the Red Roof. Hope your flight back to China wasn't to bad. :TU:
Mike; It was a pleasure meeting you! Great to see that JD with coke took over some of your memory. It just means you where enjoying your stay. Just like me sailing with the Captain. Oh yea!, It helped out my wife too. Boy, Did we party like rock stars for three nights. On Sunday, We followed that 71 Buick Conv Stage 1 four Speed. Maybe we will get to see your 71 next year? Stay Safe!
Great meeting you too Mike. I hate being spread so thin at events like this because it makes the conversations seem so superficial, but it was a pleasure meeting everyone and talking as much as we could. Glad you could make it. And of course you get the Long Haul award.
Mike, it was great to finally meet you and have a chance to BS for a few days! See ya next time we can both make the BPG meet, at least 2006 for me... :ball:
Mike, Was a pleasure meeting and talking with you at the track and in the parking lot at the Red Roof!:beer Was even more fun racing against you down the 1/4 mile!:Brow: Glad I could show you how well a 350 could run! Hope your flight home was good, our 17 hour drive (2 days) was fine. Was funny checking the gallons at the gas stops. Dave in his '68 with the 2.56 gears 6.5 gallons, me in my '69 with the 3.23 gears 8.5 gallons, Brian in his '72 with the 3.42 gears 10 gallons! Hope all stays well for you and you get more chances to drive your Buicks!!:3gears:
Nah, it was merely a mirage brought on by the heat  Should've hollered at me! I would have 'hobbled' over!
Mike, It was good to meet you after all I have heard. Sorry I woke you from you Nap! Let's see if we can get Skip out next time.
Mike. Great to meet you even if it was only for a second. Things were a little on the wild side at the Red Roof. We'll have to spend more time next year when I can bring bail money!
Mike, It was great to finally meet you too. Nice car BTW. Hope your flight home was good. Beth
Mike, it sure was great to finally meet you. I hope to meet up with you again at the next Buick Event that you are able to make!
You have to give it to Mike unless someone comes from the land down under no one is likely to ever beat the distance he traveled to this event. I am guessing it was more than 6000 miles for Mike.
Hey, it was well worth it to meet as many folks as I did and get some racing in on the 72. Thanks to all. The base air mileage from Beijing to Chicago is 6572, plus the drive to Salem at another 462, back and forth to the airports. Hmmm, about 7300 miles each way. Thank goodness for that short cut over the north pole.
