Pictures from Brad Conley's Buick get together in Ohio!

Well I just got back from Brad Conleys get together in Marysville, Ohio (IF you don't know, he's the guy with GSX #1 and GNX #1). It was a great time, and Brad is a heck of a nice guy! About 25 or so cars showed up, and the weather was perfect! There were several nice cars like Larry Gibson's 70 GSX and such. My 71 GS was there and had great company for sure! Heres a few pics (the guy driving the golf cart is Brad) P.S. His house and "barn" is to die for... :TU:

Hey guys, we had fun, didn't we?! In all, about 30 people showed up. I'll post some of my pics tonight from home, where I can resize, etc. I was just too pooped last night to do it.

Special thanks to Carol Gibson who jumped in with my better half, Jodie, and helped out getting everything set up, to Chef Eric Pfaff who was our "master of the grill" and makes a mean pasta salad to boot (that was really good, Eric!!). Eric has a beautiful 68 GS California that drew lots of looks. Erin Hatten who helped Jodie with the clean up and such. Hey, my boys (Drew & Alex) deserve special credit for lugging the tables upto the garage area along with Drew's friend Dave and getting my cars out of their "bubbles" and getting the garage and barn ready for guests (and getting their rooms somewhat picked up :Dou: ). Drew & Dave were the guys helping park you guys when you came in. Also my daughter Chelsea for putting up with her dad's "car thingy" and helping out her mom.

Thank you to all that came and provided food and good conversation. It was a beautiful day for a cookout at the Conley Ranch!

Only one negative...the dude with the Viper who lives across the road could not be found to come out and "play"...we'll do this again when we can get him cornered...

Brad, I'd like some specs on your "barn" in the first pic. What are dimensions, general specs, including wind tolerance if you know. Who's the manufacturer, is it a standard model or custom one for you? I'd like something almost exactly the same, but has to also be hurricane wind resistent.

Sorry to get off track, pls PM me if you don't mind.

Looks like you guys and gals had a great time.

    Morton Pole Buildings...

    Mike,

My "Buick Barn" was built by Morton Buildings. They are a national company with an excellent reputation for quality pole buildings. Their web site is http://www.mortonbuildings.com/ and you can build and spec just about anything you want and they will build it. They are not the cheapest building you will find, but their quality and warranty are second to none. My one at home is my 2nd Morton building (the other is at my office).

My building is 42' x 60' with 2 24'x9' overhead insulated doors with openers. I went with a 42' depth as to allow 2 cars nose to tail and still have some "walk-around" room at each end. To give you an idea, I have my 72 Centurion convertible AND the 03 Ford Excursion in the barn right now in the nose-to-tail configuration. I had Morton go ahead and insulate and finish the interior. The side walls have their acoustical steel walls which all but stops echoing in the interior. Before we had the house built, I heated the building all winter with 2 of those little 1500 watt "disc" furnaces and it held 55* without problem. Their insulation package makes for a very economical building to heat and cool.

I cannot say enough about Morton. High quality and value for your dollar.

Thanks Brad, I was looking at Morton. Is that a standard building with a model number, something you worked up as a total custom job, or.... It would help if I had a reference number to talk to them about.

I'd like a sort of a relax area on one side with full bath, space for "family room" set up with fold out couches, etc. Will be plumbing in water and septic and a satellite dish since there won't be a house nearby. That's the concept at least. Looks like your design has several feet on the right side of the garage doors for some workshop or living space.

    Mike,

I just told my salesman what I wanted and he had them draw up the plans for my approval. I have no idea if it is something "standard" or not. The overhead doors are pushed to the one side of the building to allow, like you noticed, an area for storage or whatever. It's in the area where the walk door is located. About 10' or so. I keep my tractors/mowers/junk in that area. The GSX's live next to the trailer on the far side, nose to tail. There is a four post lift in the next bay with the Centurion/Excursion nose to tail next to it. I usually keep the GNX on the lift (on the ground). I'll park my Skyhawk behind the GNX when it's back from being painted. I always have the option of raising the GNX up in the air and parking another car underneath it. I keep the GMC/Stage 1 rollback, the 91 Park Ave, the 72 Electra coupe, the 64 Electra 4dr and the 2 86 Grand Nationals in the Morton building at my office. It's 30' x 53' and really tight to get things in and out of. The building at home is a breeze to get things in and out.

I liked the charcoal gray/white color combo they have and the salesman suggested a white soffet. The white soffet REALLY makes the building stand out against the charcoal gray trim/wainscotting.

Thanks Brad. That's a verry nice building. The old barn on the property I'm working on looks like this.... Posted it on the Mississippi thread. It's not sutiable for storing anything even if there was a service road to it. First thing I'll need is a new building.

    Brad Conley's Get Together

Just wanted to publicly thank Brad and his wife, Jodie, for hosting this get together. Also, a thanks to everyone that participated. It was a good time! We have needed something like this in the Columbus, Ohio area since the annual Penn-Ohio car show at Len Imke went by the wayside a few years ago.

For those of that didn't/couldn't attend, you missed an opportunity to meet some people from the board and to see what a first class set up that Brad has. His garage shows that he is a true car guy. Room for all the toys and space to work on them, too. Not to mention that he has a beautiful house to go with it. After the tour of everything, it was obvious that a lot of thought and planning went into the house and garage. A very nice setup.

Hopefully we can do this again sometime and get a bigger turnout.

    Thanks Brad,

    Larry
