    Hi all,

I need some advice on how to fix a problem. It relates to my 72 GS. My left rear brake lights do not come on. However, the left rear signal lights work, the left rear tail lghts work and the left rear four-way flasher works.

So, what does it sound like the problem could be? Do you think it could be the stop light switch on the brake pedal, or do you think it is more involved than that?

bulb socket corroded ? double wire bulb ? brake light bulb has two filaments. bulb installed upside down or out by 180 degrees? if the bulb is installed like that then the taillight will be very bright versus the passenger taillight bulb. broken wire ? bad ground? if the right brake light works then the brake light switch is good.

    Hi Gerry,

I don't think it is any of the points you mentioned as the lights work as they should when used as signals, running lights or 4-way flashers. So if a bulb was in wrong (which by the way I think is next to impossible to do because of the design of the bulb/socket), or if the ground was bad then I would not have any lights whatsoever on the left side. If it is not the stop light switch, then could it be the signal switch in the steering column?

    Cheers
    Randy
