My headlights only work when the brights are on. I replaced the dimmer switch and that didn't fix the problem. Should I replace the headlights or is there something else to check?

Check the ground wires that attach to the fenders from the wiring harness... I think the highs are separate from the lows. You could also check your fuses..

    Good luck

The low beams have 2 filaments, one low and one high intensity. That is why they have 3 prongs on the back as opposed to 2 prongs on your inner high beam. It is possible that the low beam filaments are burned out on your outer low beam lights. I would check the grounds as Jeff has suggested, then wiggle the pigtails with the lights on(sometimes they aren't quite on the prongs). If that doesn't do it, try replacing one sealed beam, to see if your low filament is burned out.

dont waste you time lookin for fuses for the headlights. they are fuse linked and since they work to some extent, the link is working. when you say your brights work, do you mean ALL 4 headlights? if so, make sure the outside headlights are plugged in correctly.

the wire between your headlight dimmer switch and the headlights that powers your low beams may have a break in it.

unplug your low beams and see if there is voltage present on the middle wire when the low beams are supposed to be on. if not .... look for a broken wire...:TU:

I beleive that when one of the prongs on my low beams was loose in the wire socket, the low beam on that side would only work when the high beams were on, too. The loose prong was- you guessed it- the ground wire.
