Mitch the rust on the Burgundy/white WGS is minimal. What you see on the hood is no where near as bad as it looks in the picture. I will post a picture Monday of it close up. The paint came off where pieces of a carport hit it years ago:mad: . The primer separated from the hood more than 6 years ago and this is all that has happened. The hood will be media blasted to strip and I will start over. Most of the car will be media blasted at some point this winter.

OK John: The reason I asked is that I have a 66 Lesabre with similar rust spots and I have seen the identical rust markings on a 65 Wildcat. I am wondering if these cars rust from the inside out at the spots where the hood is laminated together. If so, media blast will show all the rust but even if it's removed it will continue to rust from the inside out. Mitch

Mitch here is the picture of the bigger rust/tarnish spot on the hood.
The gray in the picture is the treated steel from back around 95 or so. The spots on the hood have gotten bigger but the rust damage has not:Do No: .
As for rust issues with the laminated areas, I have seen more damage in the deck lid area. The layers of this hood are in great shape and will clean up easily.

Kimson I hope to be back on the maroon/white Cat mid to end of February.
I have had some Medical issues in the past and I am once again down:( .
I have been dealing with a respiratory infection since returning from the California Hot Rod Reunion in October. Finding a Dr. that takes you seriously and will listen to what the problem is is a  . I just found out that many of the nostalgia racers and many crew members have been fighting respiratory issues since then also:idea2: many have been diagnosed with Valley Fever.
I guess I will have to see what the test come back with next week.
I will post some more pictures as I get some.

    staged70 RIP

Its going around everywhere. I have had a bad cough for a month and its just now easing up. Many here have the same. I took a flu shot and besides a weak tired feeling from coughing all night and not sleeping I have no other symptoms. Sometimes I would cough until I cannot breathe. It really makes doing anything outside tough in the cold. Maybe I need to move to Az

Yikes, doesn't sound good.. hope you feel better soon!

If you come across a rear axle housing from a spare '66 car that has the same size carrier bearings I'd be interested.. So I can install a 3:42 posi unit I have in a box here.. Won't fit my current axle housing :( (one large & one small bearing)

Well guess what, I sat in my car today for the first time in about 5 years:shock:...

I am in the process of selling my 65 Skylark so I had to move my 66 WGS. What a weird feeling. After about 10 minutes of just sitting there thinking I came to the realization .......................................... That I need to get moving on fixing these 2 Cats.

I have been through a long few years of health issues BUT I am finally starting to feel much better. We are moving in the next few months to Florida so I need to have these 2 Cats assembled for the move.
My plan is to get all the body work done and all the best parts I have for the 2 Cats installed for the move.
I will organize a bunch of parts for spares to keep and then sell everything else.

Keep track of this as I hope to have some serious progress in the next few weeks.

For those of you that have given me the occasional nudge and support THANKS:beer

I am heading out to bring the coupe to the front of the shop:TU:
